Job Description Title: Nurse Manager Location: 5 residential sites Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM with required flexibility for evenings/weekends. Participates in a rotating 9 PM – 9 AM on-call schedule to triage after-hours concerns within two hours. Summary: Make a difference in the lives of youth through compassionate health leadership. We are seeking a Nurse Manager to join our Health Services team and provide oversight of nursing care for youth in our residential program. Reporting to the Associate Director of Health Services, you’ll ensure compliance with funder and regulatory requirements while championing medical best practices and high-quality care. Plans staffing patterns to optimize productivity., • Solves problems and handles daily residents’ issues of concern to ensure optimal care., • Develops and implements training programs for new and existing staff., • Interviews, hires, evaluates, disciplines, terminates and is responsible for relevant employment transactions., • Serves as a clinical resource for staff members in their daily activities and facilitates appropriate staff meetings., • Develops and implements clinical policy and procedures related to nursing and other pertinent areas of clinical quality management., • Develops and maintains professional relationships with appropriate professional groups and organizations., • Participates with other members of the management staff in the development of long-range plans, service delivery models and other significant strategies and/or systems., • Assumes responsibility for the accuracy, substance and timeliness of reports, projects, schedules and other relevant work products, as assigned., • Adheres to professional standards as outlined by governmental bodies, ANA and DCFS licensing, • Standards. Assists the development of organization plans/policies related to professional standards., • Provides evaluative reviews and provides training to ensure that staff understands and continues to adhere to such standards., • Participates in the after-hours on-call schedule on a rotating basis that provides 24/7, 365 days a year support for all non-emergency medical concerns to be triaged by a licensed health care professional within 2 hours of report., • One PT Nurse, • One Resource Pool Nurse To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: • Bachelor's degree, Illinois license and five years’ of experience as a registered nurse, including three years of nursing management experience., • Bilingual ability is preferred; Spanish is a preferred language., • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints., • Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style., • Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors., • Access to regular, dependable and timely transportation., • Ability and comfortability working with people of varying socioeconomic backgrounds., • Excellent communication skills. Strong networker, convener, relationship builder and communicator with experience collaborating with diverse work teams and stakeholders., • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information possessing skills to handle situations in a professional and diplomatic manner., • A high degree of collaboration and emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and analytical ability., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange; Windows operating systems; and other software routinely used by Heartland Human Care Services., • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists., • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form., • Ability to work independently and remain self-motivated with minimal direct supervision. This role is required to work on-site and may require travel to more than one site during a day. In person meetings and training courses may be required on a regular basis (weekly, monthly, etc.).
