Details • Hospital-based Med/Surg Telemetry unit, • Patient population includes diabetes, dementia, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, hip fracture, CHF, UTI, various surgical recovery cases, renal failure, hypertension, cellulitis, and failure to thrive, • Patient ratio of 1:6, • Night shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM (4x12-hour shifts), • Contract length of 13–20 weeks with 36 or 48 hours per week available, • Every other weekend required, • Floating may be required to the main campus (NHRMC), approximately 32 minutes away, • No on-call requirement, • Self-scheduling unit, • Pyxis used for medication management, • Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a different rateRequirements, • Active NC or compact RN license required (may be pending at time of consideration), • Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required, • Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required, • Required skills include: telemetry with remote monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, use of rapid response/code teams, bowel obstruction care, colostomy/ileostomy management, feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, PICC line management, IV insertion and maintenance, heparin, insulin, and PCA management, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), BiPAP/CPAP management, HFNC, nasal cannula and oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, isolation precautions/PPE, and wound care/wound vac, • Must pass an EKG test prior to start, • Two professional manager/supervisor references from within the past 2 years required (pending at time of consideration is acceptable, but required prior to start), • Must be able to work holidaysAdditional Information, • Preferred skills include: ACLS, on-unit telemetry monitoring, post-angiogram and post-cardiac surgery care, post-MI care, IV insulin protocols, bariatric surgery, CBI, port access/management, CVA care, substance withdrawal, surgical drains, ABG interpretation, pre/post thoracic surgery, tracheostomy care, previous charge experience, electronic documentation, and community hospital experience, • Orientation is 24 hours; pre-start modules of approximately 8–10 hours are required and completed via online learning, Zoom, webinar, or in-person classes, • Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters, • Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays, • Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved provided it does not fall on a holiday; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment due to orientation; additional RTO beyond 7 days requires facility approval, • Previous permanent, PRN, or EP employees of Novant Health or New Hanover Regional Medical Center must wait 12 months before being considered for a travel assignment; facility rehire approval is required, • Travel pairs are allowed; each traveler must have their own transportation and be comfortable with potentially different schedules, • Navy blue or white scrubs required, • First-time travelers are welcome to apply American Traveler Job ID #P-713414.
