As a Swim Teacher, you will provide private and group swim lessons for individuals of all ages and skill levels. Your goal is to create a fun, positive learning environment that encourages growth and improvement. Responsibilities: • As a Water Safety Instructor, you will create an educational, safe, and welcoming experience for all participants., • Memorize and use Charleston Swim Schools approved curriculum and log students' progress., • Stay aware of pool hazards and maintain constant supervision of students., • Arrive on time for each lesson and ensure you have reliable transportation (lesson locations may vary, as you will travel to the students' local pools)., • Be alert and prepared to provide first aid or handle emergencies (first aid kits are provided)., • Foster a safe yet challenging environment for student growth., • Adapt your teaching methods to accommodate the age, experience, and ability of participants to help them meet course objectives., • As a swim teacher, participate in regular in-service training sessions., • Communicate effectively with supervisors, students, and parents., • Complete additional duties as assigned by your supervisor. Qualifications: • Must have experience in aquatics, such as swim team participation, lifeguarding, or instructing., • Teachers must be positive, enthusiastic, accountable, and communicative. Experience with children is essential., • Must be able to perform all five strokes and float., • CPR and First Aid certification is required or must have held it previously and be willing to renew within two weeks of hiring., • Lifeguard training is preferred., • Water Safety Instructor certification is a plus but not required. Preferred Knowledge and Skills: • Thorough understanding and application of swimming and water safety skills., • Knowledge of teaching swimming and water safety skills., • Familiarity with facility characteristics, rules, policies, and procedures., • Strong leadership, instruction, and public relations skills., • Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
