Job Description Position Summary: The Occupational Therapy Department was founded in 1941, with a mission of providing a professional education resulting in skilled hands-on practitioners who are client-centered and occupation-centered in their approach to practice. The department offers a professional-entry M.S. and OTD programs, as well as post-professional M.S. and OTD programs. This position is a tenure-track position and it will provide graduate-level teaching in the Occupational Therapy Department and service to the Department, University, and community. Primary Responsibilities: • Teaching classes offered on campus and online using skills of communication, engagement, and adaptability., • Provide service to the department, university, and community that demonstrate a commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Mount Mary University., • Engage in scholarly activities that support and advance the profession, including publication and/or presentation., • Supervise students., • Advise students and support their scholarly activities., • Previous higher education teaching experience., • Documented occupational therapy expertise in the area(s) of teaching responsibility and student advisement. Previous experience in teaching research content desired., • Occupational therapy clinical practice experience., • Experience in distance education and learning management systems desired., • Strong working knowledge and understanding of established professional codes of ethics and best practices for faculty in higher education required., • Demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusiveness; experience working with underrepresented students., • Experience and understanding of current issues and developments in higher education., • Outstanding verbal and presentation skills; must be able to communicate and interact effectively with Mount Mary students, employees, and alumnae., • Exceptional ability to multitask and prioritize projects., • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work with varied groups, facilitate group process and foster collaborative decision making., • Current occupational therapy clinical practice experience of at least three years., • Previous higher education teaching experience., • Occupational therapist with an earned doctoral degree with preference for a research doctorate., • May be required to lift up to 25 lbs., • Must reach, bend, stoop, and lift., • Must sit and/or stand throughout work day, sometimes for prolonged periods., • Some repetitive motion may be required., • Must listen carefully and communicate clearly to others in person, via video conferencing, and on the telephone., • Office and classrooms environments with varying levels of noise throughout the day., • Varying workflow; sometimes stressful, with high workload during peak times of the year., • Complete work required within a limited space.
