Job Description Core Subject Teacher – Reading/English Language Arts (Grades 1–8) First Phase Core Academy – Orlando, FL Job Type: Part-Time Schedule: Monday–Friday, daytime school hours Hours: Approximately 25–30 hours per week Pay: $22.50–$25.00 per hour, based on education, credentials, and experience Work Location: In person – Orlando, Florida Position Overview First Phase Core Academy (FPCA) is seeking an engaging and student-focused Reading/English Language Arts Core Subject Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. This position provides Reading and English Language Arts instruction to students in Grades 1–8 through scheduled instructional groups. This is not a traditional self-contained classroom position, and the teacher is not expected to teach all grade levels at the same time. Students are organized into smaller instructional groups by grade level and academic needs. The Core Subject Teacher rotates among scheduled groups throughout the instructional day, allowing the teacher to focus specifically on Reading, Language Arts, literacy development, and related academic skills. Our small-group model allows teachers to know their students, differentiate instruction, provide targeted academic support, and closely monitor student progress. Responsibilities The Reading/ELA Core Subject Teacher will: • Provide Reading and English Language Arts instruction to scheduled student groups in Grades 1–8., • Deliver engaging instruction in reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, writing, literature, and communication skills appropriate to each instructional level., • Use school-provided curriculum, instructional materials, assessments, and educational technology., • Differentiate instruction based on student readiness, academic performance, and learning needs., • Provide targeted intervention and enrichment as appropriate., • Monitor student progress through assessments, classroom performance, student work, and progress-monitoring tools., • Maintain accurate grades, student work samples, progress records, and required academic documentation., • Establish consistent expectations and effective classroom-management practices across instructional groups., • Collaborate with other Core Subject Teachers, tutors, administration, and student-support providers., • Communicate professionally with students, families, colleagues, and administration., • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, parent conferences, testing, and school activities. Qualifications Required: • Previous teaching, tutoring, intervention, or instructional experience with school-aged students., • Strong knowledge of Reading and English Language Arts., • Strong written and verbal communication skills., • Ability to work effectively with small groups of students at different grade and academic levels., • Ability to adjust instructional strategies based on student needs and progress., • Strong classroom-management and organizational skills., • Dependability, professionalism, flexibility, and a commitment to student success., • Ability to successfully complete required background screening and fingerprinting., • Reliable transportation and ability to report consistently to our Orlando school location. Preferred: • Bachelor's degree or higher in Education, English, Reading, Language Arts, or a related field., • Previous elementary and/or middle school teaching experience., • Florida teaching certification or teaching certification from another state., • Reading endorsement, Reading certification, or literacy-focused training., • Experience with small-group instruction, intervention, differentiated instruction, or multi-level learning environments. Schedule Monday through Friday during daytime school hours, approximately 25–30 hours per week. Teachers follow a scheduled instructional rotation and work with designated student groups throughout the school day. Compensation $22.50–$25.00 per hour, based on education, credentials, relevant teaching experience, and qualifications.
