American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Arlington, Virginia. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 01/06/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, days, • Work in an Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) with floating required to Telemetry (cardiac and non-cardiac) and Medical-Surgical units, • Care for pulmonary, cardiac, and trauma patients, including those with advanced airway management needs, • Patient population includes acute and chronic pulmonary conditions, CHF, myocardial infarction, cardiac cath, post-device insertion, dysrhythmias, and med/surg overflow, • Manage patients on ventilators, high flow O2, BIPAP, cardiac drips, and those with chest tubes or Zephyr Valves, • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00-19:00), every other weekend required, • No on-call responsibilities, • Use and monitoring of telemetry equipment is required, • EMR system is Epic; training or testing may be required based on recent experience, • Provide advanced care for critically ill cardiac, pulmonary, and trauma patients, including those with ventilators and tracheostomies, • Float among IMC, telemetry, and medical-surgical units as needed, • Must be comfortable managing complex post-cardiac procedures and using rapid response protocols, • Epic EMR training provided if recent experience is insufficient; attendance at Epic orientation class may be required, • Expectation to work some holidays, • Facility is smoke/nicotine free, • First-time travelers will be considered, • Former staff must have a one-year separation from the facility before working as a traveler, • Keep time-off requests minimal and submit with application; post-offer requests will not be approved\n \n Requirements\n, • Active VA or Compact RN license must be in hand at time of consideration, • Current certifications in BLS and ACLS required, • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) preferred, • Minimum recent experience in PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown required, • Demonstrated cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia management experience required, • Experience with rapid response teams, pre and post cardiac catheterization, and management of central/PICC lines required, • Ability to manage and titrate cardiac drips and follow heparin protocols required, • Experience with isolation precautions required, • COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (with limited exemption consideration during flu season), • Physical capability to perform intermediate and critical care nursing tasks\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
