Job Description EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES - HOAMCO JOB TITLE: Director of ARC Services DEPARTMENT: Architectural Review LOCATION: Prescott, Arizona (with travel to various client communities) REPORTS TO: Vice President of Client Services SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises ARC Administrative staff, Field Inspectors, Architects/Consultants, and support personnel; provides leadership and mentorship to community Architectural Review Committees across multiple HOAs. POSITION SUMMARY The Director of ARC Services provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for HOAMCO's Architectural Services Department. This executive role ensures consistent, compliant application of governing documents (CC&Rs), Design Guidelines, and review standards across all managed communities. The Director drives departmental excellence, revenue growth, process innovation, and superior stakeholder service while serving as the senior liaison to Boards, Architectural Review Committees, developers, and homeowners. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS • Expert-level proficiency in reading, interpreting, and critically analyzing architectural plans and blueprints, with the ability to cross-reference details, spot inconsistencies, assess buildability, and ensure full alignment with Design Guidelines, CC&Rs, and standards., • In-depth knowledge of residential construction practices, building codes, zoning, and HOA architectural enforcement., • Outstanding leadership, mentoring, and team development capabilities., • Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills., • Strong analytical, financial oversight, process improvement, and problem-solving mindset., • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and plan review/document management tools., • Primarily office-based with frequent on-site and virtual (Zoom) travel for inspections, meetings, and community engagements., • Occasional evening/weekend availability for Board/committee meetings., • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Architectural Services Department, ensuring consistent application of governing documents, design guidelines, and review standards across all communities., • Review architectural and site plans, including residential, equestrian, and ancillary structures, for compliance with CC&Rs and design guidelines; personally apply extensive plan-reading expertise to conduct thorough analyses and guide staff/committees in accurate interpretations., • Lead and mentor Architectural Administrators and Review Committees, establishing best practices, training standards (including plan-reading proficiency), and performance expectations., • Represent the department in Board and Committee meetings (via Zoom and on-site), presenting findings, recommendations, and formal determinations with technical authority., • Develop and present Architectural Services proposals to associations, Boards, and developers to secure new contracts and expand departmental partnerships., • Draft, negotiate, and manage service agreements and contracts, ensuring alignment with legal, compliance, and operational standards., • Conduct weekly audits of architectural review fees and deposits to ensure accuracy, transparency, and financial compliance., • Establish and maintain standardized review workflows, templates, and documentation to promote consistency, defensibility, and regulatory compliance., • Serve as the primary point of escalation for complex, high-impact, or sensitive architectural and compliance matters., • Track and report departmental performance metrics, including turnaround times, workload, contract performance, and revenue targets., • Lead process improvement and technology initiatives to streamline plan review systems, document management, and reporting tools., • Ability to consistently project a positive company image., • Strong prioritization in a fast-paced, interruptive environment., • Team-oriented collaboration and support for colleagues., • Highly effective interpersonal and professional skills.
