American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN CVICU for a travel nursing job in Omaha, Nebraska. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: CVICU, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 05/11/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: May 11, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • Level 1 Trauma Center, acute care hospital setting, • 18-bed Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) unit, • Patient population includes post-open heart surgery, complex thoracic and vascular cases, as well as advanced cardiac surgery patients, lytic cases, carotids, TCAVRs, fempops, EVARs/Endo AAAs, • Unit also supports complex cases from the cath lab, structural heart program, EP lab, ER, and clinic, • 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio, • RNs are required to titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics, • Patients are supported by Impella, IABP, CRRT, and ECMO, • RNs manage all RT equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow) beyond troubleshooting, • No monitor techs on unit — RNs must independently read and interpret telemetry strips, • EMR: Epic, • 12-hour night shifts (1830–0630), • Every other weekend required, • Holiday coverage required every other, or as needed based on unit needs, • No on-call or standby requirement, • Float to all inpatient units, excluding Maternity/NICU, • No CNAs on the unit, • Charge nurse present each shift; charge nurse takes an assignment, • Hospitalist and intensivist both in-house 24/7Requirements, • Active NE state RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted, • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required — pending certifications are not accepted, • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; at least 1 year of experience with CVICU patient population required, • Epic EMR experience, • Ability to independently read and interpret cardiac monitor strips, • Experience with titratable drips (vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, antiarrhythmics), • Driver's license required for consideration (used to verify residence is at least 50 miles from facility), • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years — must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehireAdditional Information, • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — driver's license is used to verify permanent address, • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered, • 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided, followed by a pass/fail open-book skills exam on the last day of orientation — a minimum score of 90% is required to pass, • Navy blue scrubs required, • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments, • RTO requests of 7 days or fewer must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after that point With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
