Job Description TIG Welder – Aluminum Structures - Camp Pendleton - 1st Shift Job Description • This role focuses on precision TIG welding of aluminum structures that are installed on LCAC (Landing Craft Air Cushion) vessels. You will perform a high volume of overhead welding and work frequently in confined or small spaces. Initial training takes place in a dedicated shop environment, followed by on-site work at a shipyard supporting LCAC operations. Responsibilities • Perform high-quality TIG welding on aluminum structures designed for LCAC (Landing Craft Air Cushion) vessels., • Carry out a majority of welding tasks in overhead positions while maintaining accuracy and safety., • Work comfortably and effectively in small and confined spaces to complete welds and structural work., • Follow welding procedures, safety standards, and quality guidelines specific to aluminum TIG welding., • Read and interpret basic instructions and work directions related to LCAC aluminum structure fabrication and installation., • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure projects are completed on time and meet required specifications., • Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas in clean, safe, and operational condition., • Adapt between training shop work and shipyard work as needed, following all site rules and safety protocols. Essential Skills • 2–5 years of hands-on TIG welding experience specifically with aluminum materials., • Proficiency in TIG welding techniques, including overhead welding and work in confined or small spaces., • Ability to work safely and efficiently in a shipyard environment and on LCAC-related structures., • Comfort with performing repetitive overhead welds while maintaining consistent quality., • Strong attention to detail to ensure structurally sound and visually acceptable welds on aluminum., • Capability to follow established welding procedures and safety guidelines. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience working in shipyards or marine environments is beneficial but not required., • Flexibility to work different first-shift schedules as assigned., • Reliability and punctuality to support time-sensitive projects., • Willingness to learn site-specific processes during training in the shop environment. Work Environment • The position is based in a shipyard environment supporting ACU 5 at Camp Pendleton, with initial training conducted in a national city shop. Work is primarily performed on LCAC vessels and related aluminum structures, often in overhead positions and within small or confined spaces. The role follows first-shift schedules, including a 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. shift Monday through Thursday and an alternative 5:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m. first shift as needed. The environment emphasizes adherence to safety protocols, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and readiness to work in an active marine and industrial setting.Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oceanside, CA.
