Moving expenses are provided as well as temporary housing Job Title: Bar Supervisor & Head Mixologist Location: San Antonio, Texas Reports to: GM Department: F&B Employment Type: Full-Time (including evenings, weekends, and holidays) Job Summary We are seeking an exceptional Bar Manager & Head Mixologist to lead our premier cocktail program at a sophisticated, innovative bar. This hands-on leadership role demands a visionary mixologist with strong managerial skills to oversee all bar operations, craft cutting-edge cocktail menus, mentor a talented team, and deliver an unforgettable, elevated guest experience. The ideal candidate is passionate about molecular mixology, seasonal/foraged ingredients, sustainable practices, and pushing boundaries in beverage innovation while driving revenue and maintaining impeccable standards in a luxury environment. Key Responsibilities · Beverage Program Leadership • Design, develop, and regularly evolve an innovative, seasonal cocktail menu featuring signature drinks, classics with modern twists, zero-proof options, and pairings that complement the venue's cuisine and ambiance., • Conduct ongoing R&D for new recipes, techniques (e.g., infusions, clarifications, fermentation, smoke, presentation theatrics), and ingredient sourcing from premium, artisanal, and local producers., • Maintain detailed recipe documentation, costing, and pricing strategies to achieve target margins while ensuring quality and creativity. · Team Management & Development • Head Bartender W-Sat physically working behind the bar managing and executing the experience., • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise bartenders, barbacks, and support staff., • Provide hands-on mentorship in advanced mixology techniques, service standards, upselling, and guest interaction., • Conduct regular tastings, training sessions, and performance evaluations to foster a high-performing, creative team culture., • Handle disciplinary actions, promotions, and conflict resolution as needed. · Operational Excellence • Oversee daily bar operations, including opening/closing procedures, inventory management, pars, ordering, and vendor relationships (liquor reps, suppliers)., • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, liquor laws, responsible service guidelines, and venue policies., • Manage bar budget, control costs (shrinkage, waste, pour accuracy), analyze sales data, and implement strategies to maximize profitability., • Maintain a pristine, stylish bar environment with attention to equipment, glassware, tools, and aesthetics. · Guest Experience & Innovation • Act as the face of the bar program—interact with VIP guests, create bespoke cocktails, elevate special events/private functions and even conduct bespoke experiences available for hotels guest to book during the day or on days that we are closed to the public., • Collaborate with kitchen, management, and ownership on cross-menu integrations, pairings, and thematic events (e.g., pop-ups, tastings, collaborations). -Monitor beverage trends, competitor offerings, and guest feedback to keep the program fresh and industry leading. • Drive social media-worthy moments through stunning presentations and storytelling around drinks. · Additional Duties • Plan and execute bar-related promotions, events, and collaborations., • Track and report on key metrics (revenue, COGS, labor, guest satisfaction). Qualifications & Requirements · 5+ years of progressive experience in high-end cocktail bars, lounges, Michelin-star restaurants, or award-winning venues (e.g., top cocktail bars, luxury hotels). · Proven track record as a Head Mixologist, Lead Bartender, or Bar Manager with demonstrated success in creating innovative, acclaimed cocktail programs. · Deep expertise in mixology (classic and contemporary), spirits knowledge (global and rare), wine/beer/craft pairings, and advanced techniques. · Strong leadership and team-building skills with experience managing 5–15+ bar staff. · Excellent financial acumen (inventory, costing, budgeting, P&L understanding). · Outstanding communication, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced, high-volume setting. · Certification in responsible alcohol service (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe Alcohol) required; advanced mixology certifications (e.g., USBG, BarSmarts) preferred. · Passion for hospitality, creativity, sustainability, and guest-centric service. · Ability to stand for extended periods, lift 50+ lbs, and work flexible schedules (nights, weekends, holidays). Preferred Skills · Experience with POS/inventory systems, menu engineering software, and social media for beverage promotion. · Connections in the spirits/distributor community for exclusive pours or collaborations. · Portfolio of original cocktails or prior awards/recognition in mixology competitions. Compensation & Benefits · Competitive salary based on experience ($85-100k annually) inclusive of hourly wage ,bonuses, tip pool/share, and profit incentives.
