Job Title: Contract Translations Engineer Location: Charlotte North Carolina 28277 (100% Remote) Duration: 12 months, with Potential to extend Type: Contract Pay Rate: $31 per hour on W2 Work Hours: 40-hour work week. (8 am – 6 pm ET) – estimate (EST AND CST CANDIDATES or OPEN TO ASJUST TO EST TIME ZONE) Additional Notes: Required Skills & Experience • Computer engineering degree with relevant experience; fundamentals of TDM trunking, IP-centric technology as well, • MS Office, TIRKS, and Telnet are a hard must., • TDM voice switch experience is non-negotiable., • 2/3 switching platform knowledge., • Strong trunk and switching provisioning experience and knowledge are non-negotiable., • Switches: 5ESS, DCO, DMS-10, DMS-100, C20, EWSD, GTD-5; SIP technology, • Self-motivated, requires minimal intervention, good communication skills, • Microsoft technology Required Skills & Experience • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Engineering, or equivalent telecom/military experience., • Strong hands-on experience with voice translations engineering in carrier-class networks., • Strong knowledge of TDM voice switching, call routing, trunking, signaling, screening, and numbering., • Good understanding of SIP, SS7, ISUP/Q.764, Q.931, and voice-network architecture., • Experience with SS7 signaling, including A-Links, STPs, signaling routing, and translations., • Experience supporting network migrations, switch consolidations, modernization, network rearrangements, and telecom capital projects., • Ability to analyze existing network configurations and develop accurate translations/network changes., • Experience creating and executing MOPs, implementation procedures, test plans, validation plans, and back-out plans., • Strong troubleshooting skills across call routing, signaling, trunking, and translations., • Experience working within formal change-management processes and maintenance windows., • Comfortable with PuTTY, SecureCRT, MS Word, and Excel., • Ability to coordinate with engineering, operations, transport, signaling, project management, and vendors., • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet implementation deadlines. Desired Skills • Experience with Ribbon, SBCs, media gateways, Stratus, or similar carrier-class voice platforms., • Experience with circuit emulation and transporting legacy TDM services over packet networks., • TDM-to-SIP voice migration experience., • Carrier-class trunk groups, routing plans, numbering plans, signaling configurations, and interoffice networks., • Voice-network modernization, switch decommissioning/consolidation, or legacy-platform retirement., • Background as a Translations Engineer, Central Office Technician, Voice NOC Engineer, or similar., • Scripting/data-processing experience with Python, Perl, VBScript, or similar., • Experience with pre/post-change validation and troubleshooting customer-impacting voice issues. What You Will Be Doing • Analyze legacy TDM voice configurations and determine translations required for migration to SIP/CSP infrastructure., • Design and implement translations for call routing, trunking, signaling, screening, numbering, and traffic migration., • Support migration of voice trunks, signaling, and ancillary TDM services., • Develop MOPs, scripts, command sequences, test plans, validation procedures, and back-out plans., • Perform pre-change analysis to identify routing conflicts, signaling issues, dependencies, capacity concerns, and potential service impacts., • Implement approved network changes during scheduled maintenance windows., • Perform post-migration testing and validation of call routing, trunks, signaling, and network functions., • Troubleshoot TDM/SIP interoperability, translations, signaling, and call-processing issues., • Coordinate with network engineering, operations, transport, signaling teams, project managers, and vendors, including Ribbon and Stratus., • Maintain detailed project documentation, network configurations, test results, and implementation records., • Identify and communicate technical risks, dependencies, and implementation concerns., • Manage translations deliverables across multiple concurrent telecom projects., • Serve as a subject-matter expert for legacy voice translations and SIP/CSP migration.
