Job Description Founded in 1961, Sandy Spring Friends School (SSFS) is a progressive, all-gender, academically-rigorous day school serving students from age three through 12th grade. Summary: Provide a high level of support in the Marketing and Communications (MarCom) department, working closely with the Director of MarCom, Director of Advancement, Admissions Department, the Head of School’s office, Academic Division Heads, and faculty members to help develop and promote marketing content online and manage social media platforms. Skillsets: Excellent photography, videography, graphic design, writing/editing, and strategic thinking. Essential Job Functions: * Content Development: Working independently and with SSFS students and staff to seek out, support, create, and post/distribute various events and activities at all grade levels that highlight our brand pillars for use online and in promotional and marketing materials. * Admissions Marketing: Working as part of the MarCom team to create, post, and distribute digital and print content targeted to prospective families. This includes support for email workflows, landing pages, forms, and graphical content such as photo galleries, videos, and infographics. * Social Media Management: Creating and posting engaging content on the School’s various social media platforms, responding to posts and outreach on social media channels, monitoring usage and adapting new methods based on best practices, developing and monitoring social media policies for the School. * Website Management: Providing support and assistance in keeping the School’s website accurate and up-to-date; assisting with website redesign and brand/message consistency on all pages. * Data Management and Analysis: Managing, tracking, and analyzing website and online ad data via Google Analytics and Insights from social media platforms to determine usage and best course forward for marketing efforts. * Project Management: Initiating and developing communications projects from the research stage to implementation, including working with other faculty and staff members to complete tasks and meet benchmarked goals. * Design: Design of promotional materials for use in print, online, electronic formats, website, template-based, infographics, and more; keeping abreast of best practices for website design and usability on various platforms and devices. * Graphic Art and Illustration Design: Create graphics and illustrations for a variety of platforms including website, social media, and print. * Videography: Shooting, editing, and posting of promotional videos for use in email campaigns and on social media platforms, for the website, and for classroom use. * Photography: Support for photo needs of school, including shooting SSFS events as needed and managing Vidigami, our online photo sharing software service. * Writing and Proofreading: Crafting text for promotional material, helping to write crisis communication emails when needed, reviewing text for error and inaccuracies. * Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor’s degree required. Essentials include excellent communication skills both written and verbal, a knack for organization and accuracy with details, exceptional customer service skills with students and adults, excellent design and creative skills (for both print and electronic media); a willingness to assist groups of people while working independently, proficiency with Google Suite and Adobe Creative Suite. Website management/coding and experience with Finasite and Veracross a plus. Physical Requirements: The ability to navigate stairs as part of daily routines; mobility around a large campus with uneven pavement; bending and squatting as required to participate in activities; sitting and standing for long periods of time during the school day; lifting/carrying boxes up to 25 pounds; and the ability to maneuver as necessary within crowds and in a regular classroom and office setting.
