Job Description Salary Range:$51,272.00 To $64,090.00 Annually JOB SUMMARY: The Special Education Instructor supports students and staff by delivering individualized instruction, developing IEPs and 504 plans, and ensuring compliance with Maryland State Standards. This role uses flexible, student-centered strategies to promote academic success and collaborates with the instructional team to improve curriculum. Additionally, the Instructor coordinates volunteer programs to enhance school operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Identify students for special education services and utilize proper channels for delivering services ;, • Develop, review and maintain IEPs and 504s in compliance with State requirements;, • Monitor student progress and implementation of IEPs and 504s ;, • Maintain accurate and compliant student records in SIS ;, • Communicate accommodations/modifications and student needs to teachers, coaches and staff;, • Conduct progress monitoring; updating goals, and report student data;, • Develop and provide professional development series related to Special Education to staff., • Provide coaching, modeling, and feedback to teachers regarding instructional strategies for diverse learners., • Coordinate and deliver required health screenings, • Can have paraprofessionals help with extra tutoring, do push ins, • Can teach remedial english/math; can teach two classes, IEP caseload,, • Implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards; build lessons around student needs, including online learning tools and content., • Design and implement assessments that measure progress toward academic standards; be accountable for students mastery of Maryland Academic Standards., • Track and analyze classroom data; use attendance and assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices to achieve learning goals., • Coordinate and interpret testing in conjunction with the Lead Instructor in order to develop strategies for student success., • Focus constantly on student learning; think critically and strategically to respond to specific student learning needs across ability levels., • Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions aimed at improving student retention, productivity, school culture, and new student orientation., • Communicate student progress effectively with students and colleagues; collaborate with staff to ensure student success., • Recruit, onboard, and schedule volunteers to support instructional and Special Education initiatives., • Ensure volunteers meet background check requirements and receive necessary training., • Develop volunteer roles aligned with tutoring, mentoring, clerical support, and academic interventions., • Maintain volunteer logs, schedules, and communication systems., • Provide ongoing supervision, feedback, and recognition for volunteers., • Work with coaches and leadership staff to support students’ progress toward graduation and postsecondary planning., • Attend all team and professional development meetings., • Perform other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:, • Bachelor’s degree in subject specialty required., • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience required., • Minimum of 2 years Special Education experience required., • Current MSDE Teaching Certification in subject specialty preferred., • Experience working with high school curriculum preferred., • Experience working with adult students in urban, nontraditional, and/or in adult education setting highly preferred., • Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred. SCOPE OF SUPERVISION:, • No supervision responsibilities CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:, • Current Maryland Teaching License required within 2 years of hire. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • Has working knowledge of computer programs to perform clerical tasks: Google applications (specifically Gmail), Excel, Word and Internet Explorer., • Mastery of and enthusiasm for academic subjects., • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to analyze data for informed decision making., • Strong communication skills; ability to communicate direct feedback in a compelling way that empowers teachers to make immediate improvements to instruction., • Ability to work well in a team; ability to bridge and enhance professional learning communities., • Ability to create, monitor, and maintain systems that enhance organizational efficiency., • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; flexible, able to work autonomously as well as take direction as needed., • Effective presentation skills accompanied with inspiring stage presence., • Has working knowledge of computer programs to perform clerical tasks: Google applications (specifically Gmail), Excel, Word and Chrome. X Light Lifting up to 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 10 pounds. May be required to regularly stand for extended periods of time, walk, reach with hands/arms with full range of motion, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, push or pull. Regularly required to talk and hear. Frequently required to use hands and fingers to hold, handle and feel objects, knobs, keys and/or buttons. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Travel is defined as travel to all areas within Goodwill’s territory (Cecil, Harford, Baltimore, Howard, and Anne Arundel Counties, Baltimore City and the entire Eastern Shore of Maryland). In some cases, long-distance travel, including overnights may be required but is typically planned in advance. In some cases, travel may be unplanned. Up to 25% of working time Must have access to personal vehicle WORK ENVIRONMENT: X Limited General office environment where the employee is infrequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles or outside weather conditions.
