Job Description Job Title: Pump Technician Job Description This role focuses on building, assembling, and servicing a wide range of industrial pumps in a dedicated shop environment. You will interpret work orders and blueprints to create standard and custom pump configurations, perform repairs and overhauls, and document all work performed with clear, detailed reports. Responsibilities • Build and assemble pumps in the shop based on work orders, blueprints, and technical specifications., • Take various pump components and configure them to create unique pump assemblies tailored to customer requirements., • Occasionally repair and overhaul pumps returned from the field, including disassembly, inspection, and reassembly., • Diagnose mechanical issues in pumps and rotating equipment, identifying worn or damaged components and recommending appropriate repairs., • Perform repair, refurbish, overhaul, and dismantle processes on a wide variety of pump types, including vertical and horizontal units., • Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators to verify tolerances and ensure accurate fits., • Conduct light manual machining, including drilling and tapping, to fabricate or modify internal components when required., • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to guide assembly, repair, and fabrication activities., • Document all work performed, including detailed reports on findings, repairs completed, parts used, and recommendations for future maintenance., • Collaborate with team members in the shop to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality pump builds and repairs., • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition., • 7+ years of experience as a Pump Mechanic or Pump Technician in a pump shop environment., • Comprehensive knowledge of all types of pumps, including vertical and horizontal configurations., • 5+ years of experience assembling and repairing pumps and rotating equipment in an industrial setting., • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings., • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair mechanical components in pumps and related rotating machinery., • Hands-on experience with repair, refurbish, overhaul, and dismantle processes for industrial pumps., • Strong familiarity with precision measuring tools, including micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators., • Ability to perform light manual machining tasks such as drilling and tapping., • Experience working in an industrial maintenance or industrial machinery environment., • Knowledge of precision alignment techniques, including laser alignment, is a plus., • Exposure to vibration analysis for rotating equipment is an advantage., • Ability to fabricate or modify internal pump components when needed to achieve required configurations., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, reliable work., • Effective written documentation skills for recording findings, repairs, and recommendations. Work is performed at the bench and on the shop floor, requiring safe use of tools and equipment and adherence to shop safety practices and procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Kenner, LA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $92000.00/yr.
