Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home Speke, Liverpool Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per year (depending on experience) We are seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead our Ofsted-regulated children's home in Speke, Liverpool. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated team and ensure that the home provides a safe, nurturing, and high-quality environment for children and young people. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the home, staff leadership, safeguarding, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements while promoting positive outcomes for children in our care. All roles are subject to robust safer recruitment procedures, including reference checks and an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check where applicable. Key Responsibilities1. Leadership & Management • Lead and manage the children’s home in line with Ofsted regulations and Quality Standards., • Ensure the home operates within Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and delivers high-quality care., • Provide inspirational leadership to staff, fostering a culture of openness, respect, and continuous improvement., • Monitor performance, set objectives, and support the professional development of the staff team.2. Safeguarding & Child Welfare, • Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring children are protected from harm and abuse., • Maintain a child-centred approach that promotes the emotional, physical, and psychological well-being of children., • Implement effective risk assessments and care planning procedures., • Ensure safeguarding concerns, incidents, and allegations are reported and managed appropriately.3. Compliance & Ofsted Regulations, • Ensure full compliance with Ofsted requirements, Children’s Homes Regulations, and Quality Standards., • Prepare for and lead inspections, working to achieve Good or Outstanding outcomes., • Maintain detailed records, reports, and policies in line with legal and regulatory frameworks.4. Staff Recruitment, Training & Development, • Recruit, train, and develop a skilled team of support workers and senior care staff., • Conduct regular supervisions, appraisals, and team meetings., • Promote a culture of learning and development, ensuring staff receive mandatory and specialist training.5. Financial & Resource Management, • Manage the home’s budget, ensuring resources are used efficiently., • Ensure effective maintenance of the home, providing a safe and comfortable living environment.6. Multi-Agency Working & Communication, • Build strong relationships with social workers, local authorities, health professionals, and other stakeholders., • Attend care reviews, strategy meetings, and multi-agency forums to advocate for children., • Ensure children’s voices are heard and they are involved in decisions about their care.Essential Criteria, • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)., • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a children’s residential care setting within the last 5 years., • At least 1 year of management experience in a children’s home., • Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015., • Experience in safeguarding, child protection, and risk management., • Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively., • Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making skills., • Ability to work under pressure and manage challenging situations., • Enhanced DBS check.
