A Snapshot of Your Day As a Team Leader in HVDC Control and Protection Engineering, you will\nguide a team of specialists in designing and delivering comprehensive control\nand protection solutions for wind farm grid connections and interconnectors.\nYou’ll oversee design validation, manage departmental work packages to meet\ntime and budget targets, and foster a “right first time” culture through\nmentoring, training, and process optimization. Ensuring resource availability\nand driving continuous improvement across the engineering department are key\naspects of the role. You’ll work collaboratively with peer Team Leaders to grow the team into\na globally integrated delivery function. Reporting to both the UK Head of\nControl and Protection and the Global Department Head in Germany, your\nresponsibilities include team management (up to 15 engineers), strategic\nconcept development for HVDC systems, and coordination of innovative solutions.\nYou’ll also lead employee development through training and deployment\ninitiatives. How\nYou’ll Make an Impact • Lead and develop a team of HVDC control and protection\nengineers, managing resource planning, performance, and training across global\nprojects., • Define and coordinate control and protection concepts for\nHVDC systems, collaborating with technical teams on innovative solutions and\nensuring technical compliance., • Oversee project management tasks including concept\nclarification, customer engagement, documentation, and simulation support., • Support continuous improvement through mentoring, training\nmatrix management, and standardization of engineering processes and tools., • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, risk\nmanagement protocols, and company policies, while minimizing rework through NCR\nsystem oversight., • Contribute as a technical specialist in control engineering\ndesign, software development, simulation model validation, and customer\ntraining. What You Bring • Degree in electrical power or control engineering, ideally\ncomplemented by a relevant MSc or PhD, with experience in the power engineering\nindustry., • Strong knowledge of high-voltage applications, power\ntransmission systems, power electronics, and HVDC technology., • Proven expertise in control engineering and modelling of\nHVDC systems in both time and frequency domains., • Proficient in power system simulation tools such as\nPSCAD/EMTDC, MATLAB/Simulink, and EMTP-RV., • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for effective\ncustomer engagement., • Fluent in English (spoken and written); German language\nskills are an advantage.
