About the Role As the Registered Manager, you will be the operational lead for the fostering service, ensuring it meets all regulatory, safeguarding and quality standards. You will be responsible for building a strong team, developing foster carers, and ensuring children receive the highest standard of care. This is a hands‑on, strategic and rewarding role where you will: Operational Leadership • Oversee the day‑to‑day running of the fostering service, • Ensure full compliance with Ofsted, safeguarding legislation and regulatory frameworks, • Maintain robust quality assurance systems to keep the service inspection‑ready at all times, • Work closely with the Responsible Individual and Board to drive continuous improvement Foster Carer Recruitment & Support • Lead on the recruitment, assessment and approval of foster carers, • Oversee Form F assessments, panel processes and training programmes, • Ensure foster carers receive consistent supervision, guidance and support, • Promote retention, placement stability and high‑quality care Placement Management • Build strong relationships with local authorities, • Respond to referrals promptly and match children effectively, • Ensure placements are safe, stable and tailored to each child’s needs, • Maintain excellent communication with external partners and stakeholders Team Leadership • Recruit, manage and develop a team of Supervising Social Workers and support staff, • Foster a culture of professionalism, safeguarding and continuous learning, • Provide supervision, guidance and performance management, • Lead by example and inspire excellence across the service About You You will be a confident, knowledgeable and approachable leader with a passion for fostering and improving outcomes for children. You will bring: • Social Work England registration, • Significant experience within fostering or children’s services, • Strong leadership skills and experience supervising social workers, • A deep understanding of regulatory frameworks and safeguarding, • Confidence in managing the full fostering lifecycle, • The ability to build trust with carers, staff and external partners, • A commitment to delivering high‑quality, child‑centred services You understand the pressures local authorities face and can respond effectively to placement demands while maintaining quality and compliance.
