About the Role The Sales Order Administrator plays a key role within the Business Development function, supporting the commercial lifecycle of repeat business from quotation through to order entry and acknowledgment. The role is responsible for ensuring accuracy, commercial alignment, and customer clarity across all repeat orders, quotations, and re cost activity. Working closely with Sales Management, Planning, and Management Accounts, the post holder will create and manage commercial proposals that meet customer requirements while aligning with Mettis' profitability, delivery, and compliance objectives. This role requires attention to detail, commercial awareness, and effective communication across internal and external stakeholders. As a condition of employment successful candidates are required to satisfy ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) compliance and must fulfil the following before commencing this role: i. Currently hold the legal Right to Work in the UK ii. Fulfil a DBS clearance iii. Provide a consistent 5 year UK domicile iv. Pass Drugs & Alcohol screening at the start of their Mettis employment Core Responsibilities Complete the sales order entry and order acknowledgment process in line with company procedures Act as the commercial point of contact for all repeat business customers Create, submit, track, and manage commercial proposals and quotations for repeat items Own and manage all re cost activity for repeat orders, ensuring transparency and accuracy Track, manage, and close out commercial discrepancies through the re cost process Maintain sales order and quotation tracking systems in accordance with agreed processes Monitor, report, and support improvement of agreed business KPIs Support achievement of business upside, engineering services, and premium services objectives Work collaboratively with the Planning team to ensure quoted lead times are realistic and achievable Liaise with Sales Management and Management Accounts to ensure quotations meet or exceed profitability objectives Safety Responsibilities Comply with EHS and legislative standards Adhere to PPE and all safety policies and procedures Promote safe working practices Participate in risk assessments and near miss mitigation activities Quality Responsibilities Ensure all commercial activities are completed accurately and to required standards Deliver tasks right first time in accordance with internal processes Support high quality customer service across all repeat business activities Delivery Responsibilities Complete tasks within agreed timescales Ensure timely conclusion of order entry, quotations, and re cost activities Cost Responsibilities Identify cost saving opportunities without detriment to service, quality, or delivery Support margin protection through accurate quotation and re cost management People Responsibilities Maintain professional written and verbal communication with internal and external customers Work in compliance with all Mettis policies and procedures Business Responsibilities Act as an ambassador for Mettis Aerospace Role model the Company's Vision, Mission, and Values Required Skills Experience in a commercial, sales administration, or order management role (Manufacturing or Aerospace desirable) or transferrable experience Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook Experience using ERP systems (EFACS or similar advantageous) Commercial awareness and attention to detail Effective problem-solving capability Clear and confident communication skills Ability to manage customer relationships professionally Planning and workload management skills IT and data accuracy capability Familiarity with quotation tracking and KPI reporting Awareness of lean tools and continuous improvement principles Job Type: Full time, Permanent Location: Redditch, Worcestershire (on site, 5 days) Hours: M-T 07:30 - 16:30 & F 07:30 - 12:30 Benefits Pension: 3% Employer & 5% Employee contribution 33 days holiday including 8 statutory Bank Holidays per annum Employee benefits, rewards, and wellbeing platform (Perkbox) Free on site parking Cycle to work scheme Bereavement leave Company events Employee referral programme Sick pay This job description is not exhaustive and may be reviewed periodically in agreement with the job holder.
