Our Newly Built District General Hospital Opened In December 2017 And Offers Excellent, Purpose-built Facilities: • The Critical Care Unit is horizontally adjacent to the operating theatres and vertically adjacent to the Emergency Dept., • It is a 16-bed combined Intensive Care and High Dependency Unit featuring 16 individual rooms., • Facilities include rooms with en suite bathrooms, one isolation room, and a dedicated procedure room suitable for temporary pacemaker insertion., • To maximise natural light, all patient bedrooms feature electrochromic glass fronts and large windows., • There is an open-air terrace that some patients are able to benefit from., • The unit is well-equipped with Dräger Evita V800 and Nihon Kohden ventilators, Philips monitoring, ultrasound, echocardiography, and multi-modality renal support., • There are excellent staff facilities, including a seminar room, handover rooms, a relatives' area with overnight rooms, and adjacent on-call bedrooms., • The Critical Care Unit currently runs a closed model for level 3 and selected level 2 patients., • We are actively expanding our rota with the aim of having 8 WTE consultants which will allow us to fully close the ICU., • Daytime cover (Monday to Friday) is currently staffed by five Consultant Anaesthetist/Intensivists and an Acute Physician/Intensivist., • On-call commitment attracts a 5% pay supplement, and we are open to negotiating which specialty you provide on-call cover for based on your dual-training and expertise., • Our resident doctors comprise 3 ACCPs, Clinical Development Fellows (CDFs), and both anaesthetic and medical rotational trainees., • The Intensive Care unit participates in the Scottish Intensive Care Society Audit and has a track record of recruitment into multicentre trials., • You will be supported by a part-time research and education nurse who assists with local audit, research, and service development., • Hold full registration with the GMC and a current Licence to Practice., • Hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Intensive Care Medicine (or dual certification) or be within 6 months of achieving this at the time of interview.
