At Portakabin, we provide modular buildings for hire and sale for organisations of any size, in sectors ranging from manufacturing, education and health to transport, utilities and construction. We’re looking for a motivated Process Leader apprentice who will bring energy, creative new ideas and a fresh perspective to help Portakabin continue to innovate, lead and transform the world of modular buildings. As a Process Leader apprentice at Portakabin, you will be based at our Head Office in York. Your remit will be to support the Production Team Leader by contributing to the effective day to day running of the production area, including maintaining QHSE standards, delivering daily briefings, supervising and coaching team members, and monitoring and organising workflow to ensure smooth and efficient operations. You will work on Portakabin buildings to the highest standards, ensuring full compliance with quality requirements, technical specifications, customer expectations, and environmental obligations. A key part of the role is proactively prioritising and promoting Health, Safety and Environmental practices, while supporting continual improvement across processes, productivity, and team performance. Your two year Level 4 Process Leader apprenticeship will be delivered through a blended learning approach, supported by our learning provider, NC Group. Our apprenticeship has been designed to support you at every stage of your development, and throughout the programme you will be stretched, challenged and fully supported by a business that is committed to your professional growth. Role Details: • Annual Salary - £20,000, • Role based: Head Office, York, YO32 9PT, • Contract type: 36.25 Hours Per Week, • Annual leave of 25 days per annum plus bank holidays, • Work as part of the manufacturing team to achieve the daily, weekly, monthly and annual KPIs., • Support the Production Team Leader by organising workflow for the team, addressing shortages co-ordinating shop floor activity, ensuring housekeeping standards are maintained., • Manage and monitor objectives of work area and work as part of the team to optimise output and ensure targets are met, • Assist with technical issues, writing and managing Risk Assessments, SOP’s and actively support H&S, • Identify and contribute towards continuous improvement activities and initiatives, • Identify and monitor training needs for the team, • Ensure preventative maintenance tasks are completed to schedule and quality is maintained e.eg ISO 9001 & 14001 are adhered to, • Manage low level people issues, • Ensure compliance with all legislation, codes of practice, industry guidelines. Company policies and procedures relating to H&S, • Be the department lead during out of hours activity within the company thresholds for supervision. Escalate appropriate issues to the next line/duty manager Essential Requirements • 5 GCSEs - Grade 4 or above, including Maths and English, • 2 A-Levels or Equivalent e.g. T Level in Engineering and Manufacturing, • Strong planning and organising skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, • Good problem solving and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to break down information and work through challenges in a logical way, • Able to make sensible, well reasoned decisions, • A candidate with a positive attitude and a real desire to learn, • Fantastic communication skills – both in person and virtually, • A strong understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, • Experience gained within manufacturing/construction/related industry (desirable but not essential), • Operational experience related to trade/role (desirable but not essential), • Experience of supervising a team (desirable but not essential), • A range of dedicated health and wellbeing services, • Employee Assistance Program, • A chance to give back to your community with an annual Volunteering Day Off, • Cycle to Work Scheme, • Employee Benefits Program (Discounts at 100s of shops, gyms, restaurants and even holidays!)
