What’s on Offer • Employer pension contribution up to 22.4%, • Flexible hybrid working model (2 days per week in the office), • 25 days annual leave (rising to 32 after 5 years) + bank holidays, • Cycle to Work scheme, • Incremental pay progression, • Life assurance & local government pension scheme, • Training, development and career-growth opportunities, • Inclusive, supportive working environment Key Responsibilities As Assistant Commercial Manager / QS, you will: • Support the preparation, procurement, operation and renewal of framework and term-maintenance contracts., • Assist in the development of procurement policy, contract-administration procedures and project-management systems., • Provide specialist commercial and contractual advice, including NEC contract administration., • Support dispute resolution, compensation events, claims and arbitration processes., • Monitor project performance, KPIs and compliance across service providers and supply-chain partners., • Ensure systems are in place to audit, track and manage commercial performance., • Produce commercial reports, CVRs, cashflows and maintain robust contract records., • Influence procurement strategy and promote commercial awareness across delivery teams., • Lead on project reviews to support continuous improvement., • Ensure health and safety, data-protection and quality-management standards are met., • Provide leadership and oversight to business-support teams. About You Essential Requirements • Proven experience in procurement, commissioning and supplier relationship management., • Strong commercial & contract-negotiation skills, including drafting commercial agreements., • NEC4 contract-administration experience (highways or similar assets preferred)., • Ability to manage complex commercial issues, including claims and change control., • Strong stakeholder-management and influencing skills., • Experience in reporting on financial and contractual matters., • Ability to analyse data and produce meaningful performance insights., • Project-management experience., • Experience managing diverse operational teams., • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)., • Highly IT-literate, including advanced Microsoft Office skills., • Degree in Civil Engineering, Procurement or Quantity Surveying., • Associate membership of ICE, CIHT, RICS (or equivalent) with significant PM experience. Desirable • Chartered Engineer or Chartered Quantity Surveyor (RICS or equivalent)., • Project-management qualification., • Knowledge of local-government procurement & commissioning., • Knowledge of highway engineering, legislation and asset-management systems., • IOSH Working Safely or equivalent H&S qualification. As a Senior Engineer you will provide effective support and assistance to your Design Team Leader on a variety of highways drainage schemes whilst taking the lead on projects and mentoring junior designers. Responsibilities include: • Lead on the delivery of scheme design, as well as providing support to the Design Team Leader within the design team on various design duties including:, • Surveys/Inspections, • Feasibility and other technical reports, • Planning, programming and cost estimation, • Design production, • Production of design schedules, • Reviewing and amending design drawings, • Production of Specifications, • Supporting development of Graduate Engineers and Technicians, • Work to programme to deliver specified designs on time, • Drive effective health and safety practices within your team, • Liaise with the Client and our Community partners to ensure solutions that are developed are suitable for buildability and maintainability, • Prepare technical reports (e.g. Feasibility/Options Reports, Assessment Reports and other technical reports) What you will bring to us: • Developed experience and expertise within Highways/Civil engineering field, probably gained in an Assistant Engineer role or equivalent, • Comprehensive knowledge of design processes and procedures relevant to the civil engineering discipline, • An ability to produce or oversee the production of technically sound Highways engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements, • Experience in undertaking project related tasks associated with health, safety and welfare, e.g. Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, • Successful completion of the initial professional development leading to either Incorporated or Chartered status or an equivalent professional licence and to the level defined by their education, • A demonstrable commitment to their plan of actions and key dates leading to successful completion of either the professional review or end point assessment, resulting in the award of Incorporated or Chartered status or an equivalent professional licence, • Bachelors or Masters degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning, • IEng or CEng status is desirable, gained through the professional institution to which the individual is aligned What we can offer you: At Amey, we recognise that our biggest asset is our people.
