The Role: The Head of Data Service Provider is responsible for leading the design, delivery, and operation of enterprise data services, ensuring they are secure, reliable, and aligned with organisational strategy. This role will drive the evolution of data platforms, governance, and service models to enable high-quality, trusted, and scalable data services for internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will combine deep expertise in data management with strong leadership, commercial acumen, and the ability to build high-performing teams. Responsibilities: Strategy & Leadership: • Define and deliver the organisation’s Data Service Provider strategy, ensuring it supports business goals and regulatory requirements., • Lead and grow multidisciplinary teams across data engineering, operations, governance, and service management., • Act as the senior point of accountability for all data service provision, including quality, security, compliance, and performance., • Own the end-to-end delivery of data services, including ingestion, processing, storage, analytics, and APIs., • Ensure the reliability, resilience, and scalability of data services, with clear SLAs, KPIs, and service dashboards., • Oversee data platform operations (cloud/on-prem/hybrid), ensuring security, accessibility, and cost optimisation., • Ensure compliance with data security, privacy, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, DPA, ISO27001, NHS DSPT, FCA)., • Embed governance frameworks to assure data quality, metadata management, and lineage., • Engage senior stakeholders across business, technology, and policy to align data services with strategic objectives., • Manage relationships with suppliers, cloud providers, and service integrators to deliver best-value outcomes., • Influence executive decision-making by presenting data service performance, risks, and opportunities. Skills & Experience: • Extensive experience leading enterprise data services, ideally in [government, healthcare, financial services, or large enterprise environments]., • Strong background in data engineering, data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and data integration/ETL pipelines., • Proven track record of managing large, complex data programmes and services at scale., • Strong knowledge of data governance, quality management, and regulatory compliance., • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and influencing skills, with experience engaging at board/executive level., • Commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships., • Familiarity with Agile, SAFe, ITIL, and DataOps practices.
