Fitter / Site EngineerBedford & UK SitesPertemps are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing engineering business for a Fitter / Site Engineer to join their operations team on a permanent basis.This is a hands-on role offering a mix of site-based engineering work and workshop support, ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys variety, responsibility, and customer-facing work.Salary & Package • £40,000 – £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience), • Full-time, permanent position, • Company van provided, • Opportunity for site-based and workshop-based workKey Responsibilities, • Installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and rectification of engineering equipment on customer sites, • Delivery of site-based engineering works in line with project scope, safety, quality, and schedule requirements, • Fault finding and resolution of mechanical and/or electrical issues encountered during site activities, • Liaising with project managers, customers, and internal stakeholders to ensure effective delivery, • Providing engineering coverage alongside the existing Site Engineer to ensure continuity and resilience, • Supporting workshop operations during non-site periods, including:, • Assembly and production of OEM equipment, • Testing and inspection of completed assemblies, • Assisting with improvements to products and processes, • Ensuring all work complies with company, site, and customer safety standards, • Supporting documentation, standardisation, and knowledge transfer of site engineering activities, • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across site and workshop operationsRequirements, • Engineering qualification (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline) or equivalent practical experience, • Proven experience in site-based engineering, installation, commissioning, or field service, • Strong hands-on engineering capability with a practical, problem-solving approach, • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues independently on site, • Experience working in customer-facing environments, • Good understanding of safety, quality, and compliance requirementsSkills & Knowledge, • Strong mechanical fitting and general engineering skills, • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation, • Flexible and adaptable, able to move between site and workshop environments, • Able to work on own initiative while also contributing effectively within a team, • Reliable, resilient, and able to maintain attention to detail under pressure, • Good verbal and written communication skills, • Demonstrates honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all timesApply now or contact Pertemps for more information.
