Our Business Services & Governance team plays a vital role in ensuring our member-facing services are efficient, compliant and continuously improving, enabling high‑quality, member‑focused services across the globe.\n\nThe Opportunity\n\nWe’re looking for an experienced Governance & Assurance Lead to provide independent oversight, insight and assurance across our Operations function. If you’re motivated by improving standards, strengthening controls and ensuring organisations operate confidently within risk appetite, this role offers the opportunity to make a real, visible impact.\n\nYou will play a critical role in ensuring our operational activities are well‑governed, compliant and consistently delivered to the highest standards. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, you’ll bring clarity, challenge and confidence through robust assurance frameworks, strong risk and control management, and high‑quality governance.\n\nAs Governance and Assurance Lead, you’ll:\n\n * Lead the governance and assurance function for Operations, providing independent oversight, constructive challenge and expert advice to senior leaders.\n\n * Establish and maintain clear assurance frameworks aligned to organisational, regulatory and best‑practice requirements.\n\n * Coordinate operational risk and control management, including oversight of audits, remediation plans and regulatory readiness.\n\n * Provide confidence in data quality, data governance, reporting and management information used for decision‑making.\n\n * Support value for money by ensuring strong controls across operational and third‑party activities.\n\n * Embed learning from complaints, incidents, audits and assurance activity to drive continuous improvement and better member outcomes.\n\n * Lead, develop and engage a high‑performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, quality and inclusion.\n\nWhat we’re looking for\n\nWe’re looking for a confident, credible leader with strong governance and risk expertise, who can provide clear assurance, insightful challenge and build trust with senior stakeholders while driving high standards across operations.\n\nYou’ll bring:\n\n * Strong knowledge of operational governance, risk management, data controls and regulatory requirements.\n\n * Experience leading assurance, risk or governance teams within complex operational environments.\n\n * A proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and provide clear, credible challenge.\n\n * Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify root cause and simplify complexity.\n\n * Sound commercial and financial judgement, with a focus on value for money and effective controls.\n\n * Exceptional organisation and communication skills, able to balance competing priorities and deliver at pace.\n\nIt would be great (but not essential) if you also have:\n\n * A recognised risk management qualification (e.g. IRM).\n\n * Insight into current and emerging governance and risk models in the UK or internationally.\n\nWhy join MPS?\n\nAt MPS, you’ll be part of a purpose‑driven organisation where your work directly supports healthcare professionals worldwide.
