The Transport department play a crucial part of this journey as our drivers are at the heart of our operations. REQUIREMENTS: The main responsibility of the Transport Supervisor is to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Transport department, to ensure SLA’s are met and customer deliveries are successfully completed. This is a critical role in ensuring that we deliver excellence to our premium clientele. The successful candidate will have demonstrable transport and warehouse management experience; strong people management skills including leading, coaching and the ability to challenge underperformance - coupled with strong verbal and written communication skills. The post-holder will have robust organisational skills with an ability to prioritise and manage high workloads whilst meeting deadlines. Flexibility is key within this role, and the willingness to go out and learn and drive the routes as well as learn all business functions is essential including Route Planning on occasions. The Transport supervisor will also be responsible for the day to day running of the transport operations and the improvement of driver standards including ensuring full compliance for vehicles and drivers, as well as the reporting and of accidents. Holiday cover of the Transport Manager will be essential. The role will also be eligible to a bonus scheme. A positive, professional, can-do attitude is a must! RESPONSIBILITIES: • Daily management and motivation of all Transport staff, • Fully understand and adhere to all Company policies and procedures and legal requirements in Transport., • Ensuring there is clear communication between Transport and all other departments., • Ensuring that customer satisfaction is paramount and deliveries are completed on time., • Innovatively looking at ways to forward plan and better the department/team performance., • Managing staff performance and review meetings and address any sickness/absence and conduct concerns., • Ensure all staff and yourself adhere to all Transport and Warehouse compliance requirements and compliance in Food Safety, Health & Safety, Environment and BRC requirements., • Management of the TFL website ensuring that all company vehicles are active and all discounts are applied for., • Regularly audit all company fuel cards to ensure that they are not being misused and that the company is paying the lowest cost possible., • Attend weekly/monthly meetings and collaborate with other departments to address any issues/concerns and communicate achievements., • Ensure all Transport staff have valid clean UK drivers licenses for the class of vehicle they are driving – and they are appropriately insured to drive these vehicles., • Ensure all Transport staff clock in/out everyday correctly, using the InVentry and PlanDay systems., • Ensure Transport rota-scheduling PlanDay system is used correctly and efficiently., • Ensure all staff are in full uniform at all times (Including, Hi – Vis, Safety Shoes, Woods Uniform), • Ensure all Transport staff book their annual leave following the correct policy and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook., • Ensure Transport Department monthly payroll submissions are completed and sent to HR by required deadlines., • Responsibility to train and develop new and existing staff members on an on-going basis., • Ensure all van cleaning records/service contracts are kept up to date., • Ensure all risk assessments are carried out and kept up to date., • Ensure all vehicle MOTS/Services/Vehicle Temperature monitoring and Congestion charge registraions are kept up to date., • It is imperative that you respond to any emails and phone calls politely and professionally., • Ensure you are contactable by phone and respond to queries by phone when you are not at Woods., • Responsible for organising 2nd deliveries, checking supplier collections, customer keys, van check sheets, vehicle cleanliness, drivers returns and collection notes., • Each day you must send a handover email to all Transport senior members, you must include, next day route details, any special instructions such as, a driver is to use a different vehicle, a special customer request., • Attend essential courses/seminars and training sessions to ensure that the Transport department is legally compliant and operating both safely and efficiently. THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE: • CPC Qualification, • Transport supervisor industry experience, • Experience in a Warehouse/Distribution/FMCG setting, • Dependable, punctual and proactive - good track record for sickness absence, • Adaptable and flexible approach to work, ability to work as part of a team or individually, • Experience and understanding of heavy goods vehicles, • Seeks and is able to introduce and implement new ideas and suggestions, • Highly organised, with a can-do positive attitude and enthusiasm, • The drive to meet and exceed KPI’S to achieve bonus payments, • Outstanding people skills with a friendly and confident telephone manner and in person manner, • Confident in holding difficult conversations with staff, • An interest in fine dining and a good basic knowledge of fine dining ingredients, • Able to deliver on excellence; strong leadership skills and the ability to delegate, • Experience of working efficiently under pressure and to specified deadlines/SLA’s, • Able to deal with challenges; find solutions and engage with the workforce positively, • Excellent written and verbal communication; computer literate with inhouse software experience, • To be prepared to start before and finish after official shift timings as necessitated by the needs of the business., • Able to motivate staff and cultivate respect within the organisation. The working hours will be between 11.00pm - 08.00am.
