Overview We are currently recruiting for an SHEQ Manager on behalf of a bespoke electrical and mechanical engineering company who manage the complete mechanical engineering process including design, manufacture and commissioning. They mainly work within Water Utilities. Operating over 35 years, they are a family owned organisation who have gained a reputable name within the industry for their high-quality work and excellent customer service. They have a client base which boasts some of the biggest names in the engineering sector. Mainly working within the Waste Water and Clean Water industries they provide a range of services including surveying through to design, fabrication, installation and implementation. As the SHEQ Manager you will manage the health & safety, environmental and quality elements within the companys operations department. Ensuring that the company meets regulatory requirements, protects the workforce, the environment, and maintains high-quality standards. You will work closely with other departments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them. This is a permanent position based out of Reading 2-3 days per week as a minimum. You would mainly be covering SW and Thames. It is working Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, and is paying £45k £60k per annum depending on experience. The successful candidate would need their own vehicle and would be paid 33p per mile for any mileage. You would also receive 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, pension, training & development etc. Responsibilities Act as the SHEQ competent person for the company. Develop and implement health & safety, environmental, and quality policies. The policies should be in line with regulatory requirements and best practices in the industry. You will ensure that all employees are aware of the policies and that they are trained to comply with them. Monitor compliance with health & safety, environment, and quality policies. This involves conducting audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure that the company is complying with regulatory requirements. Identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them. This involves working with other departments to identify potential hazards and developing plans to reduce the risk of accidents or incidents. Implement and manage health and safety programs. This involves developing training programs, conducting safety meetings, and ensuring that employees are trained to comply with health and safety policies. Develop and implement environmental management plans. This involves identifying potential environmental hazards and developing strategies to reduce the risk of environmental incidents. Manage quality control programs. This involves developing quality control processes, conducting quality audits, and ensuring that the company meets quality standards. Manage compliance with ISO standards and management systems (ISO45001, 14001, 9001). Maintain various industry accreditations including Constructionline, CHAS, ECOVadis, Achilles UVDB, Builders Profile, Alcumus, Toitu (Achilles) Carbon Reduce Certification, Avetta. Performance reporting, both internally and to Clients. Incident reporting and investigation. Client liaison regarding SHEQ matters. You should have very well-developed communication skills in order to liaise with clients. Skills & Attributes Experience working with Water Authorities and construction preferred. Experience conducting root cause analysis and developing effective corrective actions. Excellent report writing skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely. Strong attention to detail and analytical skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organization. NEBOSH / IOSH Qualified. CDM Knowledge and experience. Experience of maintaining and auditing ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001. Full UK Driving Licence. The Project Manager will demonstrate good commercial aptitude in playing a pivotal role in delivering specialist projects (mainly within the UK Water Industry) with individual values ranging from c£1K to c£500K and must have a committed and flexible can do attitude to undertaking a multi-functional project management role to successfully deliver a variety of Electrical/ Mechanical / Instrumentation / Controls / SCADA / Telemetry related schemes. You will be responsible for the complete project and programme management of multiple MEICA projects across our client portfolio, working with other members of the project management group as well as senior staff from the Operational team to assist in the commercial aspects of each project, supported with appropriate resources to conclude the works via the various multi-disciplined departments within the company which may or may not include sub-contracted labour as required. Develop project plans, including timelines, resources, and budgets, and communicate these plans to stakeholders. Planning and purchasing materials / sub-contractors as required. Planning resource availability, and skills requirements liaising with internal staff to secure multi-disciplined internal labour. Regular liaison with client representatives Adjusting projects priorities and milestones based upon the customers changing needs. Providing regular feedback on operational issues / concerns to stakeholders and senior managers Monitoring project budgets and assisting with data for commercial invoices. Planning and scheduling resources to meet project goals. Adhere to Companies Policies, Procedures & Legal Practices Adhere to the Companies Health & Safety Policies & Procedures Adhere to the Companies Quality Management system. Skills & Attributes Electrical Or Mechanical Experience and qualifications. Industrial Controls and Telemetry Experience would be beneficial. Computer literate / good IT skills. Ability to manage multiple projects. Good organisational and time management skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. Good budget management. Ability to negotiate commercially.
