Consultant Gastroenterologist Locations: Portsmouth & Bristol Salary: £120,000 – £160,000 Type: Permanent Positions Available: 2 About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a multidisciplinary medical team within modern, well-equipped Surgical Centres in Portsmouth and Bristol. This role offers the chance to contribute your expertise in Gastroenterology and endoscopic procedures within a supportive, well-structured, and patient-focused environment. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality gastrointestinal services, ensuring patients receive timely treatment in clean, comfortable surroundings. The centres provide day-case treatments across a wide range of specialties and are committed to maintaining excellent clinical standards. The endoscopy units include two procedure rooms—one purpose-built and one adapted operating theatre—equipped with both Olympus and Fujinon endoscopy systems. Both full-time and part-time applications are welcomed. Key Responsibilities Reporting to the Surgical Centre Medical Director, you will: • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary clinical team, • Perform a range of endoscopic procedures, • Deliver gastroscopy and colonoscopy services for NHS and private patients, • Provide day-case endoscopy procedures, primarily under local anaesthesia with or without sedation, • Contribute to maintaining high standards of patient care and clinical excellence Applicants are encouraged to include in their CV: • Motivation for applying, • Relevant experience from the past 3 years, • Number of procedures performed, • Outcomes data (where available, e.g. national databases) Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need: • Full GMC registration, • Evidence of subspecialty training in Gastroenterology, • Significant experience in managing upper and lower gastrointestinal conditions, • Ability to provide expert clinical opinions in elective gastroenterology, • Strong experience within a specialist department Accreditation with BUPA is desirable; support will be provided to obtain this if not already held.
