Homelessness Support Worker\n\nLocation: Martin House & Hatfield Road, St Albans\nHours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) \nSalary: £26,853 per annum\n\nJoin our team at Martin House, a fast-paced 16-bed homelessness service where we support adults facing complex challenges such as trauma, mental health needs, substance misuse and barriers to independence. We work together to create a safe, respectful and inclusive environment where people feel supported, understood and empowered to move forward.\n\nThe Role\n\nYou will support 8 residents, working alongside another Support Worker who supports the other 8. Your work will include:\n\nProviding direct, person-centred support and encouraging daily living skills\nHelping residents set goals and build confidence\nResponding calmly and professionally to challenging situations\nCompleting accurate case notes, risk assessments and support plans\nKeeping the building safe with regular checks and reporting repairs\nManaging a busy caseload and maintaining key compliance tasksYou may also occasionally visit Hatfield Road, our smaller 5-bed service, for health & safety checks.\nLone working is a regular part of the role, so confidence and good decision-making are essential.\n\nAbout You\n\nYou are resilient, proactive and calm under pressure, with the ability to build trust and maintain strong professional boundaries. You communicate well, work independently and collaboratively, stay organised and use IT confidently.
