Job Title: HGV Mechanic / Technician Type: Full Time | Permanent | Monday – Friday | 47.5hpw Pay Rate: £30,000 - £40,000 Location: Chichester Start Date: Immediate We are proud to be supporting our Chichester based client, in recruiting a skilled HGV Mechanic / Technician to join their workshop team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in maintaining essential public service vehicles. Key Responsibilities: • Carry out maintenance and repairs on the company’s LGV and HGV fleet to the highest standards, • Provide repair support for cars, forklift trucks, and crane machinery where required, • Complete pre-MOT inspections and undertake necessary repairs to ensure vehicles meet required standards, • Perform Planned Maintenance Inspections (PMIs), routine servicing, and fault diagnostics, • Conduct general vehicle and equipment inspections, servicing, and repairs in line with regulatory requirements, • Prepare vehicles for MOT testing, including chassis work and associated repairs, • Respond independently to site breakdowns, ensuring efficient and effective resolution, • Complete all required documentation accurately and maintain up-to-date service records, • Prioritise workload effectively to meet deadlines, • Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the workshop, • Comply fully with Health & Safety policies and adopt safe working practices at all times About You: • Experienced HGV Mechanic or Fitter with strong chassis and MOT preparation experience, • Previous experience working on HGVs is essential, • Basic welding, hydraulic, and auto-electrical skills are desirable but not essential, • Good understanding of vehicle inspection standards and scheduled maintenance requirements, • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, • Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working unsupervised, • Comfortable working to tight deadlines with excellent attention to detail, • HGV Licence (Category C & C+E) preferred, • Basic numeracy and literacy skills to complete job documentation accurately, • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude Benefits: • Competitive salary (dependent on experience), • Monday to Friday working hours (07:00am – 5:00pm), • 30-minute lunch break, • Supportive, close-knit team environment, • Opportunity to work on a varied fleet of vehicles and equipment, • Stable, full-time position within a professional workshop setting
