You will support the implementation of the borough’s Play Strategy and Young Wandsworth Strategy, contributing to the Family Help service offer within the cluster model. About the role In this unique role, you will facilitate and promote diverse play opportunities for children and young people across the community, advocating for their right to play and involving families in developing new activities. Your main focus will be on delivering inclusive, needs-led play sessions in parks, hubs, schools and open spaces, with particular attention to children with disabilities and SEND. You will work collaboratively with schools, partners and the Children’s Participation Team, helping recruit volunteer Play Champions and ensuring all activities align with the borough’s Play Strategy and Service Action Plan. Maintaining compliance with health and safety and safeguarding procedures is vital, as is supporting the Family Help offer and contributing to team meetings and training. Your role will be predominantly outreach-based and involve working outdoors throughout the year in varying weather conditions. You will be at the heart of some of Hospice UK’s most important fundraising activity, supporting the National Legacy Campaign and working closely with colleagues across the organisation and external partners to deliver high-impact campaigns for local hospices. Through thoughtful leadership, engaging communications, and effective appeals, you will help maximise income generation while directly supporting our mission to ensure everyone can access compassionate end-of-life care. You will join a friendly, collaborative team of six within the wider Income Generation and Grants Directorate of 23. The Events and Supporter Engagement Team includes the Head of Events and Supporter Engagement, Events Fundraising Manager, Digital Fundraising and Engagement Executive, another Individual Giving and Legacies Manager, and two Supporter Engagement Officers. Together, we raise funds from individuals through events, digital campaigns, memorial and legacy giving, regular and payroll giving, and one-off donations. The Commitment We’ll ask you to participate in four two-hour Board Meetings per year, typically in person at our office in London or remotely. We also get together for a Strategy Day in September/October, which is held on a weekday in London, and you’d need to attend that in person. We can support with any access needs for in-person meetings., There are two Board sub-committees- one which focuses on our Finances and Risk, and one which considers our people (Trustees and Staff). Once you’ve settled into the role, most Trustees join one of them. They meet remotely around four times a year. Outside of formal meetings, you’ll be warmly encouraged to get to know the staff team, and attend fundraising events or other events to meet referrers, families, and supporters wherever possible. Overall, you’ll need to be able to commit around 6 hours each month for a mix of meetings and events, contributing your skills and perspective to projects, building your knowledge of the charity and developing as a Trustee.
