Finance Manager – Construction (CIS / VAT) Location: Ossett Sector: Construction Working Pattern: Office-based / Hybrid (dependent on business needs) The Opportunity An established construction business is seeking an experienced Finance Manager with strong construction-sector expertise to provide robust financial and commercial control. This role is ideal for a hands-on finance professional with in-depth knowledge of CIS, VAT, and construction-specific compliance, who can support day-to-day finance operations while contributing to wider business performance. The Role As Finance Manager, you will be responsible for managing the full finance function within a construction environment. You will oversee payroll, invoicing, cash flow, subcontractor payments, and statutory reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely financial information to support decision-making. You will work closely with operational and senior management teams to provide financial insight and maintain strong control across projects and business activities. Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day financial operations within a construction business Oversee CIS administration, including subcontractor verification, deductions, and monthly returns Manage VAT reporting, including preparation and submission of returns Oversee payroll processes, including construction payroll requirements Manage invoicing, applications for payment, and revenue tracking Monitor and manage cash flow, forecasts, and working capital Oversee subcontractor and supplier payments Prepare and submit HMRC reports accurately and on time Support budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting Provide commercial and financial insight to support project and business performance Skills & Experience Proven experience as a Finance Manager or Senior Finance professional within the construction sector Strong working knowledge of CIS, VAT, and construction financial compliance Experience managing payroll, invoicing, cash flow, and subcontractor payments Confident handling HMRC reporting and statutory requirements Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail Ability to work autonomously while supporting wider business objectives Excellent organisational and communication skills About You You will be a proactive, reliable finance professional who thrives in a construction environment.
