Job Description: The Senior Accountant is responsible for, but not limited to, preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and other supporting schedules as they relate to our various ongoing clinical trials, our non-clinical R&D projects, collaboration agreement revenue accounting, and other month-end close GL accounting areas. This role will also have the opportunity to review Staff Accountant prepared work in various key balance sheet and income statement areas (cash, investments, prepaids, fixed assets, accounts payable, accruals, and more). This role is vital in ensuring that the financials are accurate, complete, and timely reported. Additionally, the Senior Accountant may assist with various ad hoc projects as they arise, such as, software implementation, process improvement, and etc. This position will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including financial statement auditors and other accounting-related consultants. This position reports to the Accounting Manager and is based at the Company’s office in San Diego, California. Essential Responsibilities: • Ensure compliance with Company accounting and internal control policies., • Timely completion of month end processes; Including preparation & review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and other supporting schedules., • Preparation of non-clinical project accrual workbooks., • Preparation of our clinical trial accrual workbooks., • Preparation of our reconciliations and journal entries associated with our collaboration agreements., • Review and maintain the fixed asset ledgers and verify all items are properly capitalized and depreciated., • Review and maintain the prepaid asset ledgers and verify all items are properly capitalized and amortized., • Assist with requests from external auditors and other professional service providers., • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with critical collaborative partners throughout the company., • Maintain all appropriate corporate standards for facility safety. Qualifications: • BA/BS in accounting, finance, or related field, or higher degree required; CPA license is preferred., • 3+ years of accounting experience; Public accounting experience preferred., • Experience in biotechnology/pharmaceutical or related industry in an accounting or finance capacity preferred., • Understanding of financial accounting systems; NetSuite experience is a plus., • Knowledge of US GAAP and SOX regulations highly preferred., • Experience with clinical trial accounting is highly preferred., • Highly motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision; adaptable to working on multiple projects simultaneously., • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment., • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, take directions and be able to work both independently and as a team member., • Requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing., • This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, occasional overtime., • Competitive compensation, including equity-based compensation, • Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, flexible spending account, employee assistance program, and employee discounts., • Performance-based bonuses, • 401(k) with Company Match, • United States (Required), • Background Check, • As a condition of employment, you must successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check. This role is eligible for an annual target bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, type and length of experience within the industry, and other job-related factors permitted by law., • Total Compensation: Includes base salary; benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; 401(k) matching program; paid time off; paid holidays; Employee Assistance Program; and other employee benefits.
