Job Description Job Title: Junior Electrical Technician Lab Assistant Job Description The Junior Electrical Technician Lab Assistant supports hands-on testing and integration of optical test stations, fixtures, and calibration tools in a clean room environment. This role focuses on electrical circuits and mechanical systems, including optical alignment, calibration, data capture, and troubleshooting of production payloads. The position begins as a lab-based role with a strong possibility for extension or transition to full-time employment based on performance and workload. Responsibilities • Test optical test stations, fixtures, and calibration tools on electrical circuits and mechanical systems in a clean room setting., • Perform hands-on optical integration, including alignment and calibration of optical systems and payloads., • Execute testing of payloads as production ramps up, ensuring adherence to technical requirements and quality standards., • Capture, record, and organize test data accurately for analysis and reporting., • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues using established techniques and test equipment., • Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, including PDF-based documentation, to guide testing and integration work., • Use common hand tools and electronic test equipment safely and effectively during assembly, testing, and troubleshooting tasks., • Collaborate with engineering team members to resolve technical issues and support continuous improvement of test processes., • Follow clean room protocols, including proper use of clean room garments and handling procedures for sensitive equipment., • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience., • 2+ years of work experience with electrical circuits, mechanical systems, and troubleshooting techniques in a product-based environment., • Basic understanding of electrical circuits and how to test and validate their performance., • Basic understanding of mechanical systems and their interaction with electrical and optical components., • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, including documents provided as PDFs., • Familiarity with common hand tools used in electrical and mechanical assembly and testing., • Familiarity with electronic test equipment used for measurement, verification, and troubleshooting., • Ability to perform hands-on work in a lab and clean room environment, including careful handling of sensitive optical and electronic components., • Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to systematically identify and resolve issues., • Internship, coursework, or previous work experience in aerospace, robotics, automotive, or manufacturing environments., • Industry certifications such as J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, or IPC/WHMA-A-620., • Experience with soldering, crimping, and cable harness assembly., • Exposure to CAD models or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems., • Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO and AS9100., • Experience working with optical systems or in optics-focused companies., • Broad technical experience spanning electrical, mechanical, and related disciplines., • General physics experience, especially in optics or related fields., • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new tools, processes, and technologies in a lab environment. This role is based in a lab and clean room environment within an engineering-focused facility. Approximately 100 people work at the site, with around 20 people on the immediate team and 2 others performing similar lab work. The position operates under the engineering department, providing close collaboration with engineers and technical staff. The standard schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with potential opportunities for weekend work and overtime when project needs require additional support. The lab is a clean room environment where you will wear clean room garments and follow strict cleanliness and handling protocols to protect sensitive optical and electronic equipment. The facility offers a fully stocked kitchen, contributing to a comfortable and supportive workplace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Tucson, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.69 - $37.50/hr.
