Job Description The Community DSP provides direct support and supervision to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities while they participate in activities in the community. The Community Coach assists individuals in developing life skills, building independence, and engaging safely in community activities such as shopping, recreation, employment, and social events. This position focuses on promoting dignity, choice, and inclusion while ensuring the health and safety of the individuals supported. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Provide one-on-one or small group support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in community settings. * Assist individuals with developing and maintaining independent living and social skills. * Support individuals in participating in community activities such as shopping, dining, recreational outings, and appointments. * Encourage individuals to make choices and participate in decision-making regarding their daily activities. * Assist with transportation to and from community locations when required. * Provide support with communication and help individuals express their needs and preferences. * Monitor the health, safety, and well-being of individuals while in the community. * Implement individualized service plans, behavior support plans, and other support strategies as directed. * Document daily activities, progress, and any incidents according to agency policies. * Maintain respectful and professional interactions with individuals, families, staff, and community members. * Report concerns, incidents, or changes in an individual’s condition to supervisors promptly. * Follow all agency policies, procedures, and state regulations related to service delivery. Qualifications: * High school diploma or GED required. * Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred. * Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred. * Ability to pass background checks and any required screenings. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain This position primarily takes place in community settings including stores, parks, recreational facilities, restaurants, and other public locations. The role may involve walking, standing for extended periods, and assisting individuals with mobility when needed.
