Job DescriptionJob Title: Dietary Worker Job Description This role supports the food service operations within a hospital by preparing and serving meals, assembling patient trays, and maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment. You will work across kitchen and cafeteria areas, assisting with cooking, dishwashing, tray passing, and general foodservice duties while following established procedures and safety standards. Responsibilities • Prepare food for patients, the cafeteria, and special functions according to established recipes and procedures., • Assemble patient trays accurately and promptly, ensuring all items match the patient’s requests and prescribed therapeutic diet orders., • Serve cafeteria customers in a timely, courteous, and professional manner., • Handle cash accurately and operate the cash register in the cafeteria., • Perform dishwashing duties, including washing, rinsing, and sanitizing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment., • Support line cook activities such as basic food preparation, food production, and cooking tasks as directed., • Carry out food preparation tasks including portioning, chopping, and assembling ingredients while following food handling and food safety guidelines., • Maintain cleanliness of work areas related to the preparation and serving of food, including counters, equipment, and service stations., • Perform custodial and janitorial duties such as mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and general cleaning to keep the kitchen and dining areas sanitary and orderly., • Sanitize surfaces, equipment, and tools regularly to meet hygiene and safety standards., • Follow established techniques and procedures to complete duties efficiently and in compliance with policies and regulations., • Adhere to scheduled shifts, arriving on time and maintaining satisfactory attendance in accordance with time and attendance expectations., • Work a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, and some holidays as needed., • Comply with all dress code requirements and maintain high standards for personal appearance and work areas., • Use custodial equipment properly and safely in accordance with training and guidelines., • Participate in ongoing learning and development to improve skills and performance.Essential Skills, • Ability to perform cleaning, janitorial, and custodial duties, including mopping, sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing., • Basic foodservice skills, including food handling, food preparation, food production, and dishwashing., • Capability to support line cook and cooking tasks under supervision., • Knowledge of proper and safe use of applicable custodial equipment., • Ability to learn and use established techniques for efficient and compliant completion of duties., • Willingness to be open to learning and growing in the role., • Appropriate maturity of judgment and consistently high standards for work areas and personal appearance., • Ability to attend work regularly and arrive for scheduled shifts on time., • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays., • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience., • No previous experience required; ability and motivation to learn on the job., • Ability to comply with all applicable dress code requirements.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience in foodservice, hospitality, or a similar environment is beneficial but not required., • Familiarity with cash handling and operation of a cash register is an advantage., • Comfort working in a hospital setting, including both a brand new café and an older kitchen., • Strong customer service orientation when interacting with cafeteria customers and patients., • Ability to work effectively in a production-oriented environment with multiple tasks and priorities.Why Work Here? The role involves being on your feet for extended periods, moving between food preparation, serving, and cleaning areas. A defined dress code applies, and you are expected to comply with all attire and appearance requirements appropriate for a hospital foodservice environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Richmond Heights, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
