Job Summary: The AI Engineer will drive innovation across insurance technology initiatives by designing and building scalable GenAI solutions, leading proof-of-concepts, and integrating advanced AI capabilities into core business workflows. This role partners closely with business stakeholders, data scientists, and engineering teams to deliver prototypes and production-ready systems that create measurable impact. Focus areas include policy automation, claims intelligence, agent self-service solutions, and customer-facing GenAI applications. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with strong AWS and DevOps experience, deep expertise in LLMs, RAG, and agentic architectures, and a proven track record of deploying scalable AI-powered applications that enhance customer and user experiences. Duties & Responsibilities: • Design, build, and deploy scalable generative and agentic AI solutions that drive measurable business impact across underwriting, claims, operations, and customer experience, • Develop domain-specific agents from prototype to production, including multi-agent workflows, tool use, and human-in-the-loop decisioning, • Leverage AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude) to accelerate development workflows, • Apply AI tools for code generation, refactoring, testing, documentation, and code review, • Integrate large language model (LLM) APIs and ML services into applications (e.g., OpenAI, AWS Bedrock), • Design and implement RAG pipelines, prompt engineering strategies, and AI-powered features, • Evaluate, select, and champion AI tools and practices that improve engineering team productivity, • Establish guardrails, security practices, and governance for responsible AI usage, • Build and deploy solutions in AWS and cloud-native architectures, ensuring scalability, performance, and security, • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Architecture, Data Science, and Platform teams to deliver production-ready capabilities and advance the GenAI roadmap Required Skills & Technical Expertise: AI & Machine Learning • Strong Python skills for AI/ML and application development, • Experience building and deploying LLM-powered applications (OpenAI, Anthropic, Amazon Bedrock), • Solid understanding of RAG, embeddings, prompt engineering, and fine-tuning, • Familiarity with NLP and deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, scikit-learn), • Experience with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma) Full Stack Development • Expert-level experience with modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue), plus HTML/CSS and responsive design, • Hands-on experience building backend services using one or more of:, • Java (Spring Boot), Node.js (Express), Python (FastAPI/Django), or C#/.NET Systems & Architecture • Experience designing and operating production AI systems (APIs, integrations, guardrails, evaluation, monitoring), • Strong systems thinking with the ability to balance scalability, performance, cost, and risk, • Proven ability to translate ambiguous requirements into scalable technical solutions Cloud, DevOps & MLOps • Experience deploying AI/ML solutions in cloud environments (preferably AWS), • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and MLOps practices, • Experience integrating enterprise data sources Collaboration & Ownership • Strong communication skills; able to explain complex AI concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, • Proven track record of owning projects end-to-end, from concept through deployment, • Ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams Education, Experience & Qualifications: Exceptional early-career candidates with strong AI project work are encouraged to apply. Additional Job Details: This hybrid position is based in Chicago, IL, with 2-3 days in office each week. The pay range for this role is $: $102,400 - $163,900. This range reflects a good faith estimate of pay at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, knowledge, education, and internal pay equity. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
