Job Description As a Workers Compensation Premium Audit Analyst, you will play a critical role in ensuring that commercial lines workers compensation premium audits are completed in full compliance with state manual rules, regulatory requirements, and company procedures. You will be responsible for managing inquiries from insureds, agents, and underwriters, providing clear and accurate guidance throughout the audit process. In this position, you will support the Commercial Underwriting function by reviewing job duties and classifying audits according to applicable manual rules. You will verify that reported payrolls align with current policy terms and assess whether any action is necessary due to noncompliant audits or changes in exposure. Your recommendations will help maintain underwriting integrity and ensure accurate premium assessments. All responsibilities require a sound degree of underwriting judgment, exercised within the scope of your assigned underwriting authority. Your expertise will contribute to the overall effectiveness of the underwriting process and help uphold the company’s standards for audit accuracy and regulatory compliance. Accountabilities: • Reviews and analyzes audit information supplied by the insured and physical and phone audits prepared by external vendors. Reviews the job description of the employee to help better determine how to classify the audit. Examines audits for errors, reviews classification codes in accordance with manual rules, state regulations and premium audit standards to determine appropriate premium. Reconciles exposure basis against verification source documents. Researches classifications and rules using NCCI and other state manuals., • Examine financial records such as payroll registers, quarterly 941's, state unemployment tax documents, general ledgers, and sales ledger., • Collaboratively works as a team to prioritize and organize the workload to meet regulator/compliance objectives and attain department service level agreements around enhancing customer satisfaction and experience., • Develops a working knowledge of manual rules, state regulations and company standards and procedures., • Corresponds with agents, insureds and outside vendors to obtain missing information to complete payroll audits., • Explains audit computations and adjustments to agents, insureds and underwriting., • Communicates with audit companies to clarify audit information and verify status of audit completion., • Gathers data and provides analytics to support state test audit programs and to support internal quality control and efficiency metrics for GuideOne’s premium audit process., • Responds to and resolves audit disputes and makes appropriate changes to revise audits as needed., • Performs other related work as assigned. Qualifications: • High school diploma, or equivalent, required., • Bachelor's degree in business administration/accounting, finance or related field preferred, or equivalent experience in the Workers’ Compensation field required., • Three (3) years of experience in Workers’ Compensation premium auditing or similar experience., • Commercial lines insurance experience preferred., • Accounting experience preferred., • Proficient accounting/bookkeeping knowledge and mathematical aptitude., • Knowledge of audit guidelines, rules and forms as set forth in the various bureau manuals., • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the WC line of business., • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary to communicate and interact effectively with Underwriting, Agents, Policyholders and State Bureaus., • Strong analytical and decision making skills to address customer inquiries and/or concerns related to the audit process., • Proficient Excel skills and knowledge of other Microsoft Office Products., • Ability to prioritize and handle a high volume of work., • Strong attention to detail., • Critical thinking skills, and ability to make decisions and act independently., • Skilled in protraying a positive attitude through verbal and written communication, • Willingness to assist other team members and take on additional responsibilities.
