Position Purpose: The Sr. Director, Digital Enablement & Innovation is a member of the senior leadership team with accountability for defining and enabling the organization’s digital vision. Through the development and execution of strategies that leverage technology, this role drives modernization, growth, and innovation. This role leads cross-functional teams to enhance community engagement, operational effectiveness, and revenue growth, while strengthening AACN’s relevance and strategic impact across nurses, hospitals, healthcare systems, and industry partners. The Sr. Director, Digital Enablement & Innovation is expected to have a proven ability to develop and execute strategies that deliver measurable results, while building, mentoring, and leading high-performing teams. A key component of success is ensuring the functions reporting to this role, (IT, UX, digital product owners, and data analytics/business intelligence), are optimized and aligned to deliver measurable business and mission impact. Serve as strategic digital expert, providing credible insights, thought leadership and effective implementation that ensures for digital modernization, sustainment and future-focused innovation. Provide leadership and role model effective collaboration to ensure that the digital strategy seamlessly connects AACN’s technology, content, UX, marketing and business priorities. Optimize the nurse experience and mission impact through data-driven, human-centered solutions. Provide leadership and expertise in the application of human-centered design to deliver modern, integrated, intuitive, and engaging digital experiences that drive the organization’s outcomes and impact. Ensure for the development and effective, sustained use of nurse journey mapping, analytics, and other relevant data to optimize end-to-end nurse experiences, drive engagement, and maximize mission impact. Ensure for the development and effective use of modern data architecture and systems, including data lake house platforms, to generate data and business intelligence that drives effective decision making, provides exceptional customer experiences, strengthens engagement, and supports revenue growth. Ensure for the development, implementation and advancement of the use of Agile methodology and/or other effective systems for digital product management. Leverage AI, automation, and emerging technologies to enhance nurse-focused products and services and optimize AACN operations for maximum organizational impact. Identify, champion, and lead innovative opportunities, including partnerships with external organizations and industry, to influence technologies that enhance nurses’ ability to deliver care. Provide leadership to and partner with the IT director to fulfill their accountability to ensure robust, secure, and agile technology systems that support organizational goals. Collaboratively secure executive support and resources for the implementation and continuous improvement of modern technology architecture and systems that meet current and emerging organizational needs. Partner to advance relevance, accuracy, and functionality of digital channels that support IT, marketing, and UX strategies to drive organizational impact. Serve as the executive sponsor responsible for working with IT to ensure AACN’s cybersecurity posture is secure and that risk management practices are effective to protect organizational and member data while enabling enterprise-wide digital initiatives. Drive cross-functional alignment and collaboration to achieve enterprise objectives. Partner with business units and stakeholders to ensure digital initiatives advance organizational goals. Collaborate with leadership to implement integrated data, technology, marketing, and content strategies. Establish governance, processes, and systems to prioritize projects, manage resources, and improve efficiency through automation. Define ways of working that promote role clarity, reduce conflicts, and strengthen cross-department partnerships. As part of senior leadership, ensure comprehensive, integrated strategies to sustain the organization’s impact, with a focus on organizational vision, values, and performance expectations. Experience in translating these into action.Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in business, technology, marketing, communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years of people leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role in a complex organization with enterprise-wide digital accountability supporting a broad product and service portfolio. Proven executive experience leading digital enablement and innovation at an organizational level, including the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive digital strategies that drive engagement, innovation, and mission impact. Demonstrated ability to operate at the enterprise level, including a broad understanding of organizational priorities beyond direct scope of responsibility; shared accountability for organizational outcomes; ability to anticipate trends, influence cross-functional leaders, and effectively translate strategic initiatives to internal and external stakeholders. Exceptional ability to lead teams to design, implement, and optimize key initiatives using business intelligence, human-centered and experience design principles to improve digital experiences, engagement, and operational outcomes. Experience with optimizing the use of enterprise technology systems, architecture, and business intelligence for data-driven decision-making, and leveraging existing and emerging technologies to optimize operations and drive growth. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, break down silos, foster alignment, and collaborate across business units and external partners to achieve enterprise-wide digital objectives.
