Job Description Job Title: Assistant Driver Supervisor Reports To: Driver/Transportation Supervisor Role overview This position keeps the beer and wine flowing from our warehouse to our customers’ shelves. Working closely with the Driver Supervisor, this role helps coordinate daily delivery operations, supports drivers in the field, and ensures every route runs safely, efficiently, and in compliance with distribution regulations. Whether coordinating drivers, fine-tuning routes, or stepping in to solve delivery challenges as they arise, this position plays a hands-on role in keeping operations moving and delivering outstanding service, and beverages, to our customers. Duties and responsibilities • Assist the Driver Supervisor in overseeing the work and productivity of drivers., • Ensure drivers are appropriately trained in their job duties, safety protocols, and legal responsibilities., • Schedule drivers for routes based on established methodologies, ensuring optimal routes and schedules., • Support the investigation of accidents, maintain accident records, and help identify preventive measures., • Ensure timely and accurate maintenance of driver files, gathering all paperwork required for deliveries, • Monitor compliance with Department of Transportation regulations, state laws, and other regulations., • Maintain communication channels to encourage upward feedback and promote a positive work environment., • Assist in conducting safety meetings and routine driver check-ins., • Act as point of contact for troubleshooting delivery-related issues and implementing effective solutions., • Provide input on driver performance and participate in pre-employment interviews and candidate selection., • Serve as a backup for the Driver Supervisor or drivers during periods of absence., • Open the facility and perform unloading of transfer trucks, loading of local route trucks, returns, and ensure the sample bin items are staged or loaded properly., • Check drivers in when returning from routes, reconcile payments and load sheets, and close the facility., • Other duties as requested or assigned. Qualifications REQUIRED • Must be 18 years of age or older, • High School Diploma or GED, • 3 years transportation or delivery experience, • Must be able to interpret and implement all necessary State and Federal transportation laws and regulations, • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, • Excellent customer service skills, • Outstanding verbal & written communication skills, • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and within time constraints with minimal errors, • Must be a team player and work well under minimal supervision, • Knowledge of safe work practices, • 2 years of transportation or fleet supervisor experience, • Previous food service or beverage distribution experience, • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Working conditions The employee will perform work in the following environments: • Warehouse dock, • Customer locations and on route when filling in for drivers The noise level in these areas is normally moderate. Employees must be able to work in changing weather conditions and maintain a professional and courteous demeanor in all environments. Physical requirements • Must be able to safely lift up to 20 lbs. continually (15+ loads per hour), • Must be able to safely lift up to 30 lbs. frequently (10-15 loads per hour), • Must be able to safely lift between 50 and 175 lbs. occasionally (1-10 loads per hour), • Must be able to bend, twist, kneel, squat, reach, and stretch frequently (3-5 hours per day), • Must be able to climb, drive, sit, and use repetitive hand and foot fine motor skills occasionally (1-4 hours per day) Why Join Tryon?
