Job Description Department: Programs Reports To: Site Coordinator, Site Rep, Quality Assurance Coach & Director of Program Services Wages: $21.00 Status: Part-time (20-27 hours per week), Non-exempt ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Redlands-Riverside has been proudly serving children and families since 1967. We are one of the premier non-profits in the Inland Empire and looking for an incredible Youth Leader to join our dynamic team. We are a highly driven and mission-focused organization in need of an energetic, people-focused, organized, and committed professional to fill the critical role of Youth Leader. The Club’s impact extends throughout several sites across the Inland Empire, Redlands, and areas of the High Desert. PRIMARY FUNCTION: After School Youth Leaders work with an assigned group of students at an elementary, middle, or high school within the San Bernardino Unified School District. Our staff-to-student ratios are contingent upon CDC, State, and Federal Guidelines and are currently 1 to 20. Our Youth Leaders make a positive impact in a child’s life every single day. Youth Leaders are role models and mentors. With their team, they work to foster the 5 key elements to Boys & Girls Clubs: A Safe, Positive Environment, A Sense of Belonging, Fun, Opportunities and Expectations, and Recognition. KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities): Prepare Youth for Success • Promote and stimulate program participation with members., • Provide guidance and role modeling to members., • Provide homework help and academic support. Program Implementation • Effectively implement and administer services and activities for students under EXL/CAPS Extended Learning standards., • Ensure the safety of students is considered when implementing programs and activities., • Ensure program space/area is organized and cleaned during and after use. Supervision of Youth • Provide guidance, affirm positive behavior and act as a role model and mentor to youth., • Provide a safe environment through active supervision, setting clear expectations and maintaining clean program areas., • Never leave members unsupervised and implement and follow School behavioral guidelines. Professionalism • Ensure a productive work environment by participating in staff meetings as required by the supervisor or senior staff., • Maintain a good reputation and moral conduct outside of work, in the community and on social media networks., • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in the organization’s Employee Handbook, Staff Code of Ethics, and elsewhere. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. May participate in special programs and/or events. RELATIONSHIPS: Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel. External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: • High School diploma or GED Required., • Candidates must be 18 years or older (21 for High School Sites.), • Must have at least 48 semester/72 quarter college units, College Degree or pass School District NCLB test., • Experience working with children (volunteer work counts.), • Knowledge of youth development stages., • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior., • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team., • Ability to plan and implement quality activities for youth., • Ability to organize and supervise youth in a safe environment., • Valid State Driver License or California ID card., • Must clear TB, Drug Screen and Fingerprint check., • CPR & First Aid Certifications within 90 of hire. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, carts, sports equipment, etc. and reach overhead. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and multi-task. The job requires about 85% walking and/or standing, and 15% sitting. This position will be in-person working at a school site. Exposure to noise. Will work inside and outside.
