Job Description About the Role: The Animal Eye Care Vet Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing high-quality care to animals. This position involves assisting with front desk, routine procedures, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and ensuring the comfort and well-being of animal patients. The Vet Assistant will be responsible for preparing animals for examinations, administering medications as directed, and monitoring their condition throughout their visit. Additionally, this role requires effective communication with pet owners to provide instructions and support regarding animal care. Ultimately, the Vet Assistant contributes to the smooth operation of the veterinary practice and the delivery of compassionate animal care. Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent., • Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary or animal care setting., • Basic knowledge of animal handling and safety procedures., • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work collaboratively within a team., • Certification as a Veterinary Assistant or completion of a related training program but not necessary., • Experience with medical record keeping and familiarity with veterinary front desk tasks., • Knowledge of common animal diseases, medications, and treatments., • Ability to perform basic laboratory tasks such as sample collection and processing., • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations and treatments by restraining animals and preparing necessary equipment., • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of examination rooms, surgical areas, and kennels to ensure a safe environment for animals and staff., • Feed, water, and exercise animals as needed, monitoring their behavior and reporting any concerns to veterinary staff., • Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinary professionals, following established protocols and safety guidelines. The required skills enable the Vet Assistant to safely and effectively handle animals, ensuring their comfort and safety during examinations and treatments. Strong communication skills are essential for providing clear instructions to pet owners and collaborating with veterinary staff.
