The considered candidate will be required to reside in the Austin-metro area or be able to reliably commute to the office within a reasonable amount of time. The ideal candidate will have the following attributes: • Bachelor’s degree, preferred, • Paralegal Certificate, • Minimum 7 years of relevant legal experience, • Notary Public or ability to become a Notary Public, • Strong working knowledge of SharePoint, Diligent Boards, Excel, and related programs, • Organized, motivated, and detail oriented, • Process driven. Ability to draft detailed work instructions, • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Diligent Boards The Senior Paralegal provides advanced professional support to the Legal Department, Governance functions, and enterprise-wide compliance and risk management activities. This role exercises independent judgment, manages complex workflows, and serves as a subject‑matter resource across multiple operational areas including legal administration, governance support, Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) platform administration, enterprise risk management (ERM), project management, and cross‑departmental initiatives. The Senior Paralegal collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, leads process improvements, and ensures the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of critical organizational documentation and systems. Reports to SVP, Chief Administrative Officer. Essential Job Duties Legal & Governance • Provides advanced legal, analytical, and administrative support to the Legal Department, independently prioritizing and executing work., • Drafts, reviews, and edits reports, correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents. Prepares and coordinates filings with NERC, FERC, the Texas Secretary of State, and other regulatory authorities., • Oversees the Texas RE Board meeting cycle, including drafting materials, coordinating with stakeholders, and overseeing finalization and distribution of presentations, • Responsible for coordinating accurate and timely uploads of Board and Committee materials to Diligent Boards, • Attends meetings of the Texas RE Board of Directors, the Member Representatives Committee (MRC), and other Committees; provides follow‑up analysis and support., • Drives the Business Plan and Budget Board calls: Corresponds with the Finance department on documents; works with MRC members to find an MRC call date, meeting process deadlines, • Supports the Texas RE conflicts of interest process, • Serves as Clerk for Texas RE for all contested matters in accordance with NERC hearing procedures and internal requirements, • Supports the General Counsel’s participation on NERC‑related committees through research, document preparation, and coordination of deliverables, • Manages the entry, tracking, and lifecycle of vendor contracts in SharePoint; monitors expiration and renewal timelines and advises the Deputy General Counsel, • Serves as SharePoint super user for the Legal Department; identifies user needs, recommends enhancements, and collaborates with IT to resolve issues, • Maintains the Legal Department’s electronic document management system, • Develops and documents work instructions, legal project plans, and departmental procedures, • Assists with drafting, reviewing, and implementing corporate policies and procedures, • Co‑administers the GRC platform and its modules across multiple teams, • Administers and maintains platform configurations, workflows, dashboards, and reporting structures, • Maintains control documentation, policies, procedures, and supporting artifacts across multiple compliance frameworks, • Assists in onboarding and managing control frameworks within the platform, • Monitors data quality, ensures accurate reporting, and maintains platform integrity, • Supports control owners and stakeholders in using the GRC platform for assessments, evidence collection, and tracking remediation activities, • Manages user roles and permissions to ensure proper access controls, • Documents processes, workflows, and platform configurations, • Provides administrative and operational support for Texas RE’s ERM function, including meeting notes, minutes, agenda development, and follow‑up actions, • Oversees document management and retention for assigned ERM and Corporate Governance Committee (CGC) working groups, • Manages multiple simultaneous project lifecycles, including planning, tracking, organization, and oversight, • Develops project plans and timelines for implementation of newly developed policies, procedures, and system enhancements, • Participates in testing of new software, systems, and procedures, • Develops and delivers training for new software and procedural rollouts, • Monitors online events and provides technical or administrative support as needed, • Serves as back‑up for front desk reception and phone coverage, • Performs other professional duties as assigned. Qualifications Education & Experience • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Legal Studies, Public Administration, or related field (preferred), • Experience with GRC platforms, SharePoint administration, or enterprise systems (strongly preferred), • Paralegal Certificate (required), • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in legal operations, compliance, governance, project management, or related professional roles (required), • Strong understanding of legal processes, regulatory filings, and corporate governance practices, • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects with minimal supervision, • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and workflow‑based platforms, • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, • Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and make independent decisions, • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across departments, • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, • Exercises independent judgment in prioritizing work and resolving issues, • Demonstrates technical mastery of GRC systems, SharePoint, and document management tools, • Project Leadership: Plans, organizes, and executes multi‑phase projects with minimal oversight, • Produces clear, concise, and accurate written and verbal communications, • Builds strong relationships and works effectively with cross‑functional teams, • Responds effectively to shifting priorities and evolving organizational needs, • Problem‑Solving: Identifies issues, analyzes root causes, and proposes effective solutions, • Handles confidential information with professionalism, discretion, and integrity. Additionally, Texas RE will match 75%, up to 6%, of employee contributions, with vesting at 20% per year and full vesting at five (5) years of employment.
