Job Description Human Resources Generalist (Benefits & Leaves) Olympic Sports & Spine (OSS) is dedicated to excellence in patient care, employee support, and organizational growth. We are seeking a highly motivated Human Resources Generalist who is experienced in Benefits & Leave administration to join our HR team in Tacoma, WA. This is a full-time, exempt position with the typical work schedule being Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. This role plays a key part in supporting our employees through effective benefits, leave, payroll, and compliance administration. SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Human Resources Generalist supports the HR department by coordinating and administering employee benefits, medical and statutory leave programs, and assisting with payroll and compensation processes. This position also ensures compliance with federal and state laws, supports audits, manages HRIS data (Paycom), and provides general HR operational support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and has strong knowledge of benefit plans, leaves of absence, and HR administrative processes. Development of the Human Resources Department • Assists with administering programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the company., • Provides general administrative support such as preparing correspondence, forms and reports, arranging meetings, composing regular correspondence, processing confidential reports and documents, filing electronic and hard copy, tracking deadlines, and taking down minutes as needed for HR Department and Corporate office., • Assists with the tracking of departmental and company measurements that support the accomplishment of the company's strategic goals., • Maintains the HRIS database (Paycom) with employee data changes, personnel action forms (PAFs), including compensation, benefits and job status. Generates scheduled or requested reports to assist management. Establishing, maintaining and controlling personnel, employees, recruitment relations records, files, correspondence, reports, and organization charts., • Support reporting needs and ensure data integrity through routine audits., • Assists in the development and updating of the Human Resources section of the website., • Maintain personnel files, certifications, and compliance documentation., • Administer and process all employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401k and wellness plans., • Manage benefit plan enrollments, changes, and terminations., • Conduct benefit orientations and provide ongoing employee education., • Resolve benefit issues and assist employees with claims., • Ensure compliance with ACA, COBRA, and ERISA regulations., • Reconcile monthly billing and audit payroll deductions for accuracy., • Serve as liaison with third-party benefit vendors and brokers., • Manage all types of employee leaves (FMLA, PFML, ADA, personal leave, etc.)., • Coordinate medical leave documentation, employee notifications, and return-to-work procedures., • Track and report on leave balances and usage., • Assist with biweekly payroll processing in coordination with Accounting., • Audit timekeeping records and prepare payroll adjustment entries and personnel action forms(PAFs)., • Maintain accurate employee compensation records., • Support internal and external audits related to benefits, leaves, and payroll., • File required reports (e.g., 1095-C, EEO-1, etc.) to ensure legal compliance., • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR laws and regulations, • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications., • Assists in the development and implementation of an employee handbook and new personnel policies and procedures., • Assists employees and managers with basic interpretation of HR policies and procedures., • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff., • Provide support for employee inquiries related to benefits, leaves, payroll, and HR policies., • Assist in new hire onboarding and orientation processes as it pertains to benefits and leave education and when coverage is needed., • Assists with administering pre-employment background checks, employment verification checks and reference checks as needed., • Collaborate with HR team members to support company-wide HR projects and initiatives. Education & Experience: • Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Bachelor's degree preferred)., • 2+ years of experience in benefits and leave administration, payroll support, or HR generalist duties., • Experience with Paycom or similar HRIS/payroll software., • 5+ years of experience in benefits and leave administration, payroll support, or HR generalist duties.
