For you and/or dependents., • Accrued sick time, • Mileage Reimbursement Spread Your Wings (SYW) Direct Care Staff (DCS)/Supportive Living Staff (SLS) are responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive environment which ensures the quality living of our clients. DCS/SLS’s primary duty is to provide the appropriate support tailored to the needs and desires of each individual to enable each to live as independently as possible. DCS/SLS is expected to recognize when an individual is in a crisis and be able to utilize the appropriate procedures to handle the situation in a professional and safe manner. What you'll do: • Assist, monitor, and teach individual(s) with preparation of daytime activities and encourage good personal hygiene and behavior appropriate in their home or apartment. These activities may include grocery shopping, menu planning, meal preparation, and clean up., • Encourage, motivate, and support clients with developmental disabilities and/or behavioral challenges., • Help plan, create, and organize tasks and schedules that promote goal achievement for your clients., • Have a passion for helping others and believe in treating people with dignity and respect., • Can problem solve and adapt to different client needs., • Are a strong communicator and dependable., • Are comfortable working independently in one-on-one settings, • Have experience working in a similar role or field (preferred, not required) Spread Your Wings, LLC. Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: • Reliable, energetic, flexible, and capable of working independently and as part of a team., • Act as a positive role model to support client and establish a constructive and appropriate personal relationship with client., • High School Graduate or equivalent in experience providing personal care to individuals., • Must pass DOJ background check., • May require a California driver’s license, proof of vehicle insurance, and current driving record from DMV., • Assist, monitor, and teach individual(s) with preparation of daytime activities and encourage good personal hygiene and behavior appropriate in their home or apartment. These activities may include grocery shopping, menu planning, meal preparation, and clean up., • Supervise the assessment of each individual(s)’s abilities, interests, and needs tailored to the individual’s ISP., • Direct Interaction with individual(s) towards the attainment of goals set forth within the individual’s ISP., • Assist, monitor, and teach individual(s) in budgeting skills., • Teach and supervise self-medication skills according to Regional Center best practice., • Teach individual(s) in holding house meetings and informal discussion groups with peers., • Handle emergency situations appropriately and utilize crisis interventions when necessary., • Teach and/or support individual(s) in utilizing public transportation. Transport individual(s) to appropriate appointments., • Perform daily recordkeeping (i.e., data collection, daily logs). A progress note must be written at the end of each shift to be exchanged with next shift and/or with support staff., • Teach and be supportive of basic nutrition. Assist individual(s) to utilize community resources from nutritional counseling., • Teach relationship building skills., • Teach community integration; assist individual(s) in joining community organization of their choice., • Teach problem solving and conflict resolution skills., • Provide leisure/recreational activities of individual(s) choice to encourage self-initiation of leisure activities., • Teach and monitor individual(s)’s self-management skills (in health and behavior management), • Teach individual(s) basic first aid, fire safety, emergency skills and sex education and/or assist individual(s) in locating a class (community resource) in these areas., • Provide opportunities for individual(s) to have choices, make decisions in daily living and their future goals (i.e., assist individual in day-to-day decisions., • Assist individual(s) in building their self-esteem to encourage empowerment., • Follow individual(s) treatment plans consistently., • Conduct and document monthly fire drills according to DMR procedures., • Report any abuse (physical, emotional, sexual) or act of omission to the Disabled Person’s Protection Commission., • Be available to meet with repair person(s) and inspector(s)., • Attend individual(s) and inter-agency staff meetings for individual(s)., • Attend SYW training., • Perform all other duties as assigned.
