Job DescriptionTurbomachinery Controls Engineer SENIOR PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER - TURBOMACHINERY CONTROLS OVERVIEW We are seeking a senior-level Product Development Engineer with deep experience in core control software development for turbomachinery. This role focuses on source code development and ownership of foundational control applications used across turbine and compressor control projects. This is not a project controls or panel design role. It is best suited for an engineer who has worked at an OEM or competitor in a core software development capacity, building and maintaining reusable control code products used across multiple customer projects. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Develop, maintain, and improve core source code for turbomachinery control applications, with primary focus on gas turbine fuel regulation (TFR), • Own and evolve foundational control software delivered to project teams for deployment, • Develop control logic using IEC 61131 PLC/PAC programming languages, • Support product-level development for:, • Gas turbine fuel regulation (primary focus), • Compressor anti-surge control, • Compressor capacity control, • Parallel and series compressor load sharing, • Midstream refrigeration and steam turbine control applications, • Collaborate with project engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of core software into customer-specific systems, • Participate in software architecture decisions, enhancements, testing, and maintenance, • Proactively engage with internal teams and clients to support complex technical issues, • Contribute to advanced control system initiatives, including cybersecurity and AI-enabled workflow development QUALIFICATIONS • Strong experience in industrial control system source code development, not just application configuration, • Background working for an OEM or turbomachinery controls developer, • Demonstrated expertise developing reusable, production-grade control software, • Hands-on experience with IEC 61131 PLC/PAC platforms, • Deep understanding of gas turbine or compressor control principles, • Ability to independently drive development work with minimal oversight IDEAL BACKGROUND • Expert-level experience in gas turbine fuel control/regulation (top priority), • Experience in centrifugal compressor control and related processes WHAT IS OFFERED -$150k-$250k + bonus • Opportunity to work on core control products central to business success, • High technical ownership and influence over foundational software, • Exposure to advanced control system development initiatives, • Long-term role for an engineer who wants to stay deeply technical Benefits PETROTECH INC. Education & Experience " Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Control Systems Engineering, or a related technical field. " Minimum of 5 years of experience in control system design, PLC/HMI programming, and commissioning within industrial automation, especially for turbo or rotating machinery. " Proven experience with PLC/PAC programming using IEC-61131 languages (Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text, etc.) on platforms such as Allen Bradley RS Logix/Studio 5000, Triconex Tri-Station, Schneider Electric EcoStruxure, Siemens Step 7, or Emerson PAC/GE Fanuc Proficy. " Experience with distributed control systems (DCS) configuration and programming is a plus. Technical Skills " Strong understanding of control system architecture, PLC programming, and automation hardware. " Ability to develop and troubleshoot control algorithms and software for complex machinery and process applications. " Familiarity with engineering simulation tools such as SimSci or equivalent. " Programming proficiency in text-based languages such as C, HTML, or similar is a plus. " Ability to interpret and develop technical documentation, schematics, and control logic diagrams. Soft Skills " Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently. " Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills. Supervisory Responsibilities " No direct supervisory responsibilities; however, may lead project teams or coordinate with junior engineers and technicians. Physical & Travel Requirements " Ability to travel up to 15% domestically as required for client support, site commissioning, and project meetings.
