What we need: The Staff Accountant II plays a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity of our organization across multiple entities and locations in the Southwest Region. This position involves comprehensive accounting functions including general ledger maintenance, financial analysis, and process improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate, timely financial reporting while supporting strategic business objectives. Key Responsibilities: General Ledger & Transaction Processing (40%) • Maintain daily accounting operations and prepare journal entries for various transactions (revenue, expenditure, payroll, accounts payable), • Process weekly journal entries into Sage for ADP payroll integration, • Conduct daily bank transaction matching with timely follow-up on unmatched items, • Monitor daily Ramp transactions to ensure compliance and accurate coding, • Prepare monthly accruals to facilitate efficient month-end close processes, • Complete monthly reconciliations for bank accounts and balance sheet accounts, • Investigate and resolve account discrepancies in a timely manner, • Perform comprehensive variance analysis on general ledger accounts, • Ensure all financial transactions comply with US GAAP and company policies, • Assist in preparation and support of internal and external audits, • Maintain supporting documentation for all accounting entries and processes, • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analyses as requested, • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and create operational efficiencies, • Lead or participate in accounting process improvement initiatives, • Research and resolve complex accounting issues requiring adjusting entries, • Support implementation of new systems or procedures, • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required, • Minimum 2-3 years of progressive accounting experience, • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP principles and applications, • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, complex formulas), • Experience with ERP systems (Sage Intacct experience strongly preferred), • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, • Ability to prioritize workload and meet tight deadlines, • 3+ years of experience in similar role, • Proficiency with QuickBooks, Ramp, and ADP Workforce Now preferred, • Experience in multi-location or multi-entity environments, • Advanced Excel certification or equivalent demonstrated expertise, • Experience with process improvement methodologies, • Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements, • Previous audit experience (internal or external) Skills that will make you successful in this role: Technical Skills: • GAAP knowledge and application, • Financial statement preparation, • Account reconciliation, • Journal entry preparation, • Variance analysis, • Database management, • Strong business acumen, • Time management and organizational skills, • Professional integrity and confidentiality Our Core Values: • Results Matter – We believe in delivering on our promises and driving outcomes that make a measurable difference., • Do the Right Thing – Integrity is at the core of everything we do. Compensation: Guardian is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For this position, the base salary pay range is $75,000- $85,000. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary range is subject to change and may be modified at any time. Location: This role is a hybrid role – requiring 3 days/week in the Gilbert, Arizona office.
