Job Description Bridger Law Group is seeking an experienced immigration attorney to join our growing immigration department. This is not a position for someone who simply wants to supervise a caseload from a distance. We are looking for a lawyer who enjoys practicing law: analyzing difficult cases, preparing witnesses, developing strategy, writing persuasive motions and briefs, appearing in court, and advocating for clients when the stakes are high. Our immigration department already has an established team of attorneys, paralegals, case managers, and support staff. We are adding another experienced attorney because the practice continues to grow and we want to continue increasing the depth of our legal team. A major focus of this position will be removal defense and Immigration Court litigation. The attorney we hire should be capable of taking ownership of an individual hearing from beginning to end: evaluating the record, identifying legal and evidentiary weaknesses, developing the theory of the case, determining what additional evidence is needed, preparing the client and witnesses, briefing contested issues, and presenting the case before the Immigration Judge. We are looking for someone we can trust with hard cases and important clients, not merely someone who can make an appearance. The attorney will also handle motions, legal research and writing, USCIS cases and interviews, waivers, appeals, and strategic case review. Typical responsibilities will include: • Independently handling Individual Hearings, Master Calendar Hearings, bond hearings, and other EOIR proceedings., • Developing litigation strategy for asylum, cancellation of removal, adjustment of status, waivers, and other forms of relief., • Preparing clients and witnesses thoroughly for testimony and cross-examination., • Reviewing the evidentiary record and identifying gaps well before a hearing., • Researching and drafting motions, briefs, legal memoranda, appeals, and other substantive filings., • Handling complex questions of removability, admissibility, eligibility for relief, jurisdiction, criminal immigration consequences, and procedural issues., • Representing clients at USCIS interviews, including AOS and asylum interviews and other matters requiring attorney attendance., • Providing legal strategy and substantive guidance to paralegals and case managers., • Reviewing attorney-level work product and ensuring cases are legally and strategically prepared., • Consulting with other attorneys in the department on difficult or unusual cases., • Maintaining ownership of deadlines, hearing preparation, and the quality of the legal work assigned to you. At Bridger Law Group, attorneys have substantial support. We do not expect attorneys to function as their own paralegals, intake coordinators, and administrative assistants. We have built a team around our lawyers so that attorneys can spend more of their time doing work that actually requires a lawyer. At the same time, this is a serious practice. The people who thrive at Bridger Law Group understand that immigration law demands hard work, urgency, and commitment. They take ownership of their cases and recognize that excellence in this field is not a part-time pursuit. We also believe experienced attorneys should have room to exercise judgment. We are not looking for someone who needs every strategic decision made for them. We want someone who can walk into the Managing Partner's office with a difficult case, explain the problem, identify the law, recommend a strategy, and have a substantive discussion about the best way forward. For the right attorney, this is an opportunity to become one of the firm's trusted lawyers as Bridger Law Group continues to grow. The strongest candidate will have: • An active license in good standing with a U.S. state bar., • Significant experience practicing U.S. immigration law., • Meaningful experience representing respondents in removal proceedings before EOIR., • Experience independently handling Individual Hearings. This is an important requirement for this position., • Strong knowledge of defensive asylum and other forms of relief from removal., • Experience preparing clients and witnesses for contested hearings and testimony., • Excellent legal research, writing, issue-spotting, and analytical skills., • The ability to independently evaluate a case and develop a legal strategy rather than relying exclusively on templates or support staff., • Sound professional judgment and the ability to recognize when an issue requires additional research, consultation, or escalation., • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple hearings, deadlines, and complex matters simultaneously., • The ability to work effectively with paralegals, case managers, attorneys, and other members of a team., • A strong sense of ownership and accountability for clients and assigned matters., • Professional fluency in English and Spanish (preferred). We are particularly interested in attorneys who are intellectually curious, enjoy complex immigration law, and continue studying the law even after years of practice. We do not expect one candidate to have handled every type of immigration case. We do expect the person hired for this position to have the foundation, judgment, and work ethic necessary to become someone the firm can confidently trust with its most important matters. \nCompany Description Bridger Law Group is a growing, multi-practice law firm based in Georgia, with a primary focus on immigration and personal injury law.
