As the Manufacturing Engineering Extrusion Manager, you will play a very strategic role in our organization with exposure not only locally but globally. Your expertise will be part of the success in communicating with Engineering and Manufacturing leaders. Job Purpose: Performs all managerial responsibilities for the manufacturing engineering and maintenance teams, focus on extrusion process and equipment acquisition, as well as Facilities maintenance, tooling repair and administration, new product Introduction and capital investment projects. Ensures all safety, quality and production standards are met or exceeded and that utilization of the Lean principles is built into every process and project. Partners with the leadership team in developing and implementation of long-range plans to ensure the facility continues to stay technologically advanced in capital equipment and engineering human resources. What are the most common activities? In order to grow and build a successful career at The Toro Company, you will be responsible for: • Promoting continues improvement environment across the 3 extrusion sites., • Replacing obsolete equipment and looking for new technologies that enhance productivity, efficiency, quality and safety., • Providing training to the local groups of the different sites to assure standardization. Project Management: • Assure project coordination with Marketing, Sales, Senior Management, Operations, Drafting, Shop, Test, Service, Finance, and Legal departments., • Conducts project team meetings., • Plans and executes of engineering feasibility and product development programs assuring schedules and goals reflect aggressive but obtainable objectives., • Recognizes problems, whether schedule or resource difficulties and initiates corrective action., • Responsible for control of expenditure on assigned projects., • Conducts regular design, quality, cost, manufacturability and safety reviews with project team and support functions., • Performs functions as required by the Toro "Product Development System". Works with legal on potential patent activity and any liability cases., • Assists Test department in developing and following test plans., • Prepare reports as required providing communication to all levels of the organization. Supervisory: • Coach and lead subordinates in their own personal development, providing resources and opportunities., • Supervises and leads human resources to complete approved projects in support of engineering program goals and objectives., • Conducts performance appraisals and salary reviews in accordance with policy., • Sets and monitors objectives for subordinates., • Assists in selection, training and discipline of employees., • Manages assigned resources to complete approved projects in support of goals and objectives. Technical: • Establishes product specifications, features, design objectives and schedule., • Conducts feasibility studies as needed to reveal idea practicality, potential problems and specific revisions., • Creates or generates marketable ideas for new and revised products., • Assures quality, reliability, serviceability, safety, cost and performance objectives for the design are established and met., • Works with vendors to ensure selection of quality components., • Learn and implement new technologies to improve the product development process., • Provide technical support to Purchasing and Operations to evaluate and select vendor partnerships., • Apply value analysis techniques to products and processes for improvement. To be considered for this position, an individual must meet the following minimum requirements: Position is hired under El Paso, TX location but will be providing support in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of a school/employment visa at this time. • Bachelor of Science concluded in Industrial, Electromechanical, Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering., • Six to Eight (6-8) years of experience in similar role., • Plastics Extrusion., • Maintenance: Compliance with local facility regulations., • Strong leadership, team building, organizational development, coaching and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to motivate people, assess and develop employee skills., • Excited to be hands on, working with the production team on continuous improvement, process optimization, and process development projects. Driven with a high internal standard for personal and facility performance., • Willing and able to make facility level decisions independently on a regular basis, generally consulting with the Director of Operations on decisions that may affect timelines, profit margins, other departments, and capitalized projects., • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to balance production. Works well with ambiguity., • Must have strong oral and written communication skills, must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work closely with subordinates, peers and higher levels of management. Effective in working within a highly matrixed organization., • Highly motivated, results oriented with the ability to work independently, under pressure, manage and prioritize multiple initiatives concurrently, attend to details, and meet deadlines., • Holds self and others to a high standard of personal and facility performance., • Data Analytics., • Project Management., • Microsoft Office Preferred Requirements: • Equipment Integration., • SAP., • Irrigation Systems., • Experience Implementing Preventive Maintenance Systems., • PLC & Drivers Programming., • Communication In Pulse System Bases. Other Job-Related Components: • Controls multiple engineering projects., • Directly supervises office and staff employees., • Engineering projects with specific budgets., • Position will provide support in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between $117,900 - $147,300. Cash compensation is one piece of our competitive total rewards package.
