Job DescriptionDescription: Location: Quarry & Surface Mining Sites (Travel Required) Reports To: Asset & Safety Manager Schedule: Monday–Friday | 10-hour shifts Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to support crushing, quarry, aggregate, and surface mining operations. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining yellow iron and mobile mining equipment to ensure safe operations, minimal downtime, and cost-effective asset performance in an MSHA-regulated environment. Key Responsibilities • Diagnose, repair, and maintain crushers (cone & jaw), conveyors, feeders, excavators, loaders, haul trucks, dozers, skid steers, generators, forklifts, and related heavy equipment, • Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine systems using diagnostic tools and service manuals, • Perform welding, fabrication, and minor machining to support field repairs, • Execute preventative maintenance (PM) programs and complete inspections in compliance with manufacturer and MSHA standards, • Reduce unplanned downtime through accurate diagnostics, timely repairs, and proactive maintenance, • Identify and implement cost-saving repair and maintenance solutions without compromising safety, reliability, or equipment quality, • Support PM compliance, equipment availability, and asset lifecycle management goals set by the Asset & Safety Manager, • Collaborate with site foremen, operations teams, and maintenance personnel, • Follow all MSHA regulations, company safety policies, and site-specific rules Physical Demands & Work Environment, • Lift, push, pull, and carry 50–75 lbs (with or without accommodation), • Work on and around heavy equipment in active quarry and crushing plant environments, • Exposure to dust, noise, vibration, grease, oil, outdoor weather, and moving machinery, • PPE required at all times per MSHA and company policy Benefits • Paid holidays, including your birthday off, • Employer contribution toward medical, dental, and vision insurance, • 100% company-paid basic life insurance policy, • Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in crushing, quarry, aggregate, or surface mining environments, • Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and heavy equipment electrical systems, • Ability to independently diagnose and repair complex equipment failures, • Welding and fabrication experience required; minor machining preferred, • Demonstrated focus on downtime reduction, preventative maintenance effectiveness, and cost control, • Working knowledge of MSHA Part 46 or Part 48 requirements, • Willingness to travel between quarry and surface mining sites, • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
