If the answer is "Yes, please!!!", then continue to read on for more info..... We are seeking two (1) Certified Medical Assistants (New Grads are welcome to apply!) to become part of our team! You will perform routine administrative and clinical assignments to keep our clinic running smoothly. On site training for new grads with license is available. * ABOUT THIS POSITION: The CMA partners with the healthcare team (Teams are comprised of medical assistants, schedulers, physicians, and mid-level providers) to provide an exceptional patient experience. Our CMAs are responsible for keeping the clinic running smoothly, the physician and mid-level providers working efficiently, and assisting with day-to-day clinical duties such as taking vitals, rooming patients, and handling other clinical and clerical duties. The CMA is responsible for a variety of patient care tasks and is the primary liaison between the patient and the provider(s). Patient/Customer Service is Paramount! The CMA is the glue that holds the team together. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES: The Essential Job Functions are: • Greets and prepares patient for health care visits by accompanying them to the exam room, • Interviews patients to obtain a current, accurate medical history, medication lists, allergies and other relevant information; updates the electronic health record (EHR). Obtains and documents vital signs. Accurate documentation is critical, • Assists with patient visit, including but not limited to preparing exam room, escorts providers during examination, dispensing sample medications as authorized, completing orders for new prescriptions, refills and/or x-ray orders, • Documents clinical information (medications, allergies, procedure scheduling worksheet) accurately, in the proper location in the EMR, and in a timely manner, • Ensures appropriate and adequate level of supplies present in exam rooms by routinely assessing and restocking exam rooms on a weekly basis and as needed, • Maintain inventory of medical supplies, linen and approved educational material needed to provide care to patient, • Schedules endoscopic procedures, diagnostic tests, and office visits for the physicians as per established office protocols, including utilization of EHR, • Documents and/or scans necessary patient demographic, insurance information and/or records into GGastro EHR, • Verifies insurance benefits and obtains necessary precertification, if applicable, • Communicates procedure information and patient instructions in a timely manner, including Rx preps, as appropriate, • Will notify the supervisor/administrator of instrument or procedural problems within specific time frames, • Reviews cost estimate and financial responsibility with patient, • Handles patient phone calls in a timely manner, and documents in EHR, • Handles patient patient portal messages in a timely manner, and documents in EHR, • Works collaboratively with physicians, mid-level providers, medical assistants, and all other members of the healthcare team, to optimize patient care, • Assists in solving patient, physician office, departmental concerns or complaints received, in a timely and satisfactory manner, • Maintains patient confidentiality, HIPAA rules and regulations, • Maintains a safe work environment, • High School diploma or equivalent required, • Ability to communicate oral and written ideas and plan effectively, • Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT coding is required, • Knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations, • Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook proficiency, • Must demonstrate good judgment in handling situations not covered by written or verbal instructions.
